While it is sad when anyone is killed, it particularly bothers me to see these young kids that have their lives ended, just taken away. Their future stolen. By some riff raff. And it bothers me that we are so reluctant to punish these subhuman thugs. Why so afraid have the death penalty apply to many more crimes than it does and to fast track the trial (couple of weeks) fast track the appeal (a week), then execute them the next day. In most of these types of things there is no question as to guilt.
Well, there are a lot of precedent that would prohibit such an expedited death penalty procedure, so that's not really on the table.
But, when an officer is charged and tried for excessive use of force on someone they shot and killed, I do think there should be consideration given as to whether the deceased suspect would have faced the death penalty anyway. (Some evidentiary issues that would severely restrict defense counsel either presenting evidence or arguing that. I do not agree with them.)
