Those wars in the Middle East have been going on for more than 3500 years, similar to all the wars in the EU and Russia lands- no reason to think they are stopping now. Iran will most likely go down to a simmer mode for a long long time - but you never know where a hot spots pops up in the ME.

Israel will continue to be a valuable "asset" for the US. Hopefully, the US and Israel can neutralize the 5 decades of Iranian state-sponsored terrorism.

The Abraham accords envision the possibility of peace and prosperity. A great deal needs to be done and Israel will be critical to that enterprise. One substantial task is the education of the Shia population toward literacy and some semblance of democracy. Away from hate as a political currency.

Of course, delegitimizing hate also will be one of the biggest challenges for the next generation of US citizens and politicians.

I think Israel ends up doing what we want. I think Israel wanted help taking out the regime forty years ago, but a series of weak political leaders chose not to, even though American citizens were being killed by Iran's proxies, including 45 who were killed on October 7th. I don't know how others feel, but when American citizens get killed, I want the people who caused it to find out who they are really meeting, and it's not 72 virgins. But it wasn't until now that we had someone with the guts to do it. And it's not like we didn't attempt to negotiate, and it's not like we didn't warn them.
