The first lawsuit was filed by a Muslim father because no Islamic schools were approved new voucher program. Looks like he has a good case because the school he sends his kids to should qualify.

That is a religion, not a school. I do oppose giving state money for private, Christian schools. Send your kids to Kinkaid in Houston. It's a non-demonization school. Expensive as hell. I think vouchers should be used for the public schools and I'm catholic.

Don't associate with terrorist organizations and your school will be approved.

This lawsuit will end in failure.

All 786% of them.

Does the Islamic schools accept students of all religions? I know for certain that catholic schools do. I went to school with many students who were not Catholics and even a few who were not Christians (Hindu). The non Catholics were exempt from the religion course, although they did need to take Latin.

I'm surprised that people are surprised. What's good for the goose is good for the gander. Are you also going to be surprised when the Five Pillars of Islam is displayed next to the Ten Commandments in schools?

Catholic schools are up to over 20% non-Catholic now with so many fleeing the public school system.

Our kids' Christian school decided not to accept vouchers. They don't want any risk of the government involving themselves in our school operations, who we admit, what we teach, etc.

But I'm off topic. Did any Muslim schools meet the criteria?

Wise decision.

And if we're going to have a country built on freedom of religion, then by definition that means you won't be able to exclude Muslim, satanic, Hindu, Buddhist, etc schools. Why Texas didn't see this coming is baffling.

My general take is that the voucher program should be tied directly to your property tax roll. You get taxed 2k per year by the school district? Here is your 2k voucher.

No application process. No 500% poverty test, no disability tiers. Don't even have to get into this muslim vs christian school fight.

Even throw a bone to apartments. Whats the tax roll of the whole apartment divided by the units. Its not paid directly by the renter but it is still paid by them.

Its not equal, but its fair.

What we can't - ban Islam.

What we can if we have the balls - Close the border to any Islamic country on the planet.

Lots of naive Americans, is why.
Islam is not like any other religion. It is a conquering religion unlike Hinduism, Jainism, Judaism, Japanese religions. They want to take over the world for Allah.

So our usual high sounding ethics and principles don't work. You have to just junk it all and say "No Muslims allowed", after removing Islam as an acceptable religion.

Cowboys and others don't have the courage to do that.

That is what I said in a post above. Only solution is to say Islam is not a religion, it is a political war doctrine and treat it differently.

No one has the balls to do it. Not cowboys, not yankees, nobaaaady.

The whole point of vouchers is to give the poor a leg up and ability to flee the inner city nonsense. This would give mansion dwellers a blank check and poorer apartment goers pennies.

Disclaimer: I have always been against the whole thing from the beginning and we homeschool to avoid this mess of a situation.

That is not the whole point of the vouchers. It ended up being that way because of how the texas democrats formed a coalition with RINOs in the state house and forced those things upon the program. The point of the vouchers was to put some pressure on school districts to actually incentivize performance and reward stuck parents. Either stuck as a poor person in a failed school, or stuck in a nicer school district that still sucks and was pushing way too much DEI/BLM/LGBTQ and other forms of leftist activism.

I don't care if a house that pays 10k in school taxes per year gets 10k back, and people who put pennies into the system get pennies back. Not everything in this world has to be heavily tilted towards being poor. The middle class gets screwed again.

Inner city nonsense is not fixable nor will it ever change. But the voucher program does have the ability to threaten to remove every last good kid keeping a moderate school afloat, and that should scare the administrators enough that they'll actually start yanking behavior problems and tell the teachers to cool it on the leftist bull*****

Didn't read the article, but the schools have to do a lot of legwork to get qualified. If they didn't do the legwork then I can't imagine there are grounds for a suit.

The Christian schools teach the ABCs, and the Muslim schools teach the ABCs and the IEDs. That is why we shouldn't be funding madrassas in Texas.

Quote:

A federal judge on Tuesday ordered Texas to extend the application deadline for private school vouchers by two weeks due to the state's exclusion of Islamic schools from the program.

The extension comes after four Muslim parents and three Islamic private schools sued Texas leaders earlier this month, arguing state leaders discriminated against their religion by excluding them from the program. A lawyer representing plaintiffs in one of the lawsuits confirmed the ruling to The Texas Tribune.

Acting Comptroller Kelly Hancock Texas' chief financial officer who manages the voucher program has prevented Islamic schools from participating in the program over claims that some are associated with foreign terrorist organizations.

Hancock has said schools accredited by the company Cognia hosted events organized by the Council on American-Islamic Relations, a Muslim civil rights group that Gov. Greg Abbott recently designated a terrorist organization. CAIR has sued Abbott over the label, calling it defamatory and false. The U.S. State Department has not designated the organization a terrorist group.

Before the court order, the application window for Texas' school voucher program was set to close at 11:59 p.m. Tuesday for families who want to use public funds to pay for private school or home-school during the 2026-27 academic year.

https://www.kbtx.com/2026/03/17/judge-orders-texas-extend-school-voucher-deadline-response-lawsuit-islamic-schools/

The judge is Alfred H. Bennett, appointed by Obama of course.

No, if you start pushing Christian stuff in schools then you will have to allow Muslim horse**** in schools.

There is reason we've avoided doing this, historically. And considering how left wing schools are now we would be stupid to start doing this.
