Love waymo. Excited it is in Houston now. I take them a lot in other cities. Non ghetto ride, non ghetto third worlder driver, dont smell like weed…

I see a half dozen or more Waymo's daily on the north side of Austin. Have t seen one glitch yet. I've seen 2 or 3 stacked up at the same intersection before. They must have a hub or center near where I work.

They creep me out. I also saw one almost hit a homeless guy downtown who was jaywalking. It was impressive to see it slam on the the brakes in the middle of the intersection, but I don't think it could have avoided a collision if there was anything else that could have caused one at the same time.
A normal driver would have just slowly pulled through as the person finished walking, but the waymo had to slam on the brakes.
So the Waymo didn't hit the guy, but you don't like how it didn't hit the guy? Interesting.

Bottom line is liberals abhor the free market and anything they can't control (and profit from) through regulation or unionization that indirectly fills their coffers.

Waymos are dangerous. I wouldn't trust them. I see them all the time doing crazy stuff...and I read an article that says they sometimes blow by school busses with their stop signs out.
People are much more dangerous

Not true. Very safe. Multitudes safer than human drivers.

Well, I mean are you talking about a random ******* on 35 or an uber driver?
I wouldn't imagine that bad drivers could work for ride-share for very long.

It actually tracks with anti-capitalist ideology. One of the effects of capitalism is the efficiency of markets, as plainly evidenced by technological advancement. If it saves labor, then that is the enemy of the socialist/communist, because that is where their power is derived from. Advancement great enough to cause market shifts is resisted by those whose ideology actually works to permanently enshrine the present.

I had one blocking the entrance to my office's parking garage off of Caesar Chavez for 5 minutes waiting for a passenger. When I saw the passenger come out I looked at him and he just kind of shrugged and said "Im sorry". I mean it's not his fault.

So, the Mayor is an advocate for Wayless testing?
AgGrad99 said:Quote:
I've only seen two Waymo instances personally:
1.) driving to office on 5th towards downtown. Waymo was stopped in a lane of traffic and actually straddling a lane waiting for a rider to cross a couple of lanes to enter the vehicle. Thought this was pretty dangerous for the rider and other vehicles.
2.) Waymo stalled on Lamar during rush hour causing all kinds of issues.
The first one is definitely an issue.
The second one happens every day with human drivers. A vehicle breaking down isn't really a Waymo thing.
I haven't ridden in them, but I seem them all over, daily...and haven't really noticed any issues. They almost seem too cautious, which I guess is a good thing.

If you spend any amount of time driving in downtown Austin, "too cautious" should be your default.

I wonder what they had to say about the whaling industry and all of the whalers that were made redundant when we started refining Texas tea.samurai_science said:
