I shop at Kroger, I use their digital coupons therefor I get e-mails from them from time to time. Usually it is telling me about new deals or reminding me to use my fuel points. Today's e-mail however, just nuts!

Subject: You Can Opt Out of Mother's Day & Father's Day Communications

We know Mother's Day and Father's Day can be sensitive times for some. If you'd like to opt out of our emails and push notifications for these holidays, please tap below. Don't worry, you'll still receive all of our other emails.

How soft of a society have we become that we cannot just delete a freakin' e-mail if we don't want to read it. I mean, good on Kroger I guess. BUT REALLY!?

I have lost both parents, but I can handle it. Emails are the least of the reminders, not that I need any. I can only assume that someone complained.

Sorry to hear about your folks. Unfortunately, I don't think the email was intended for customers with no mother or father. More likely that their intended audience is those with or part of 2 of one and none of the other

Yeah I think this was intended for queers and Trans folks

Something like 1 and 3 women have a miscarriage, and your thought is that it's more likely they are doing this for less than 1% of the population?

I think you're just a little hyper focused.

If you've never experienced the devastation of miscarriage, stillbirth, infertility, or loss of a child, consider yourself blessed. When you're in the throws of those terrible tragedies, the last thing you want is some cheesy marketing email (unintentionally) reminding you of everything you've lost. While I'm far enough away from our losses to be able to function without being triggered by such things now, the first 1-2 years after felt like every single thing was a reminder of what we had lost. While I don't expect it, and definitely don't demand it, I can appreciate companies having a little forethought around such things.

Seems like this email alone can be triggering, just mentioning Mother's Day and Father's Day…think about it, those that have been through a lot due to loss of child or other issues, the email sent by Kroger is a triggering event, in and of itself….just saying.

That's fair, and the reality is that unless you just completely unplug and go into a shell and/or go to a cabin in the woods, you're going to get exposed to something that reminds you. However, there is a difference between a simple email with the the words "Mother's Day" and "Father's Day" and a marketing email that's full blown "Don't forget to treat your wife on her special day!!!" or "Fire up the grill with your little guy on Father's Day!".

Totally agree and my post wasn't directed at your post, just was my thought reading through the thread…my ex wife had a miscarriage at 16 weeks and it was devastating, but I never once thought about Fathers Day and Mothers Day being hard on her and me…it was just a moment in time, I know others have had a different feeling about what occurred.

Being that June is for the 2% of the population that is LOLGay, not sure your point holds water. Companies fall all over themselves to pander to idiocy.

Kroger, and other companies, started it during COVID for people who lost family members and kept it going. It has nothing to do with gay or trans. It's just for people who lost a parent and don't want to be reminded.

Most probably it's for people who had terrible parents and have issues today.

You forgot to put "terrible" in quotes.

You've hit the nail on the head, but likely not for the reason you mentioned. It could be for those that are pissed that their parents still vote for Trump and hold other conservative views. I know a few parents in this category. It kills them that their kid has effectively disowned them for no reason but in most cases, the kid doesn't get support for the other siblings.

My mother died when I was a little kid, you have to be super duper soft to catch the vapors because you got an email with Mother's Day sales on it. How are you not reminded every second of every day? I know I am. But I have a Costco-sized canister of Suck-It-The-F-Up I drink.

So, the position is that people who opt out of mothers and Father's Day emails are soft or weak….and OP decides the best way to combat weakness and soft societies is coming to F16 to whine about it the email?

Come on, man.

Kroger here in McKinney recently shut down ... the nearby H-E-B and Market Street stores kicked K's ass ... soon a new Trader Joe's is opening.

Kroger got tired of getting beat up.

Or, and stay with me here, I thought it was odd and somewhat weak based off of my perception of what the e-mail was about. Then I see several other opinions that I did not consider, from others commenting on the post. Almost like having a discussion and sharing views. While I can still hold my original views as before, I can also see where others might be coming from and allow for greater understanding. But of course, that's not what F16 is for is it?

Everyone seems to be either virtue-signaling, or playing the victim these days.

Next bright idea for liberal Karens.

Ban Father's Day from certain neighborhoods because as per statistics, 65% kids from those areas don't know who their daddys are.

This is coming. Liberal innovation.
