Life in prison as a child abuser would be a worse punishment than the death penalty, IMO.

Ugh. I made the mistake of looking at the picture of Athena in the back while this POS was driving. As the dad of a 7 year old daughter who, in black and white, looks just like her build-wise, it really ****ed me up

The trial -- punishment phase to be exact since he plead guilty -- has been going on for almost 10 days. The better question is why is this just now coming up 3.5 years after the incident and his arrest? I understand they thought they'd have to go to trial but a year/year and a half should have been sufficient to prepare.
Trial is being held in Fort Worth. I attended a small part of a Wise county murder trial a couple of years ago that was being held in Jack County. That guy was going to get life no matter what (and did).

All I can figure is some people choose evil. Those need to be removed from this life. God will handle special treatment far more effectively than us humans could. We just need to expedite that meeting.

That's not what he was saying. Anytime I see people say this, I know they have actually never read the passage. He was talking about false prophets and others leading children and/or new believers to sin or be led astray.
Also, life in gen pop is one of the worst penalties you can give for a crime like this. His likelihood of surviving long is not very good.

If he plead guilty, I would put him to death, since there is no question that he did it.

I'm all for it. I just don't trust "the system" or the lawyers within it to make this happen.

Hadn't heard of this story before now. What absolute human garbage. And the absolute gall of this guy to beg for time with his family? He deserves many bad things done to him before he dies. Put him in gen-pop for a while before they kill him. I've heard those guys have a special place in their hearts for people who these types of things to kids.

The dirtbag actually asked the cops if they would promise him 30 days of freedom before getting locked up to spend with his son if he confessed after he deprived that little girl's parents of another second on Earth with their child. I can only imagine what the detectives wanted to do to him when he asked for that.

Once there is a guilty plea, I see no reason he wasn't killed that hour. He admitted it.
We ought to pass a law that gives 60 days following a conviction to expedite the appeals process. There is no legit appeal that should take longer than that.

This is one issue where I struggle with my Catholic faith. A part of me wants to bring back the public "hanged, drawn, and quartered" execution for criminals like this. But of course that brings up a litany of moral and ethical dilemmas. And probably violates the 8th Amendment. IDK, maybe a firing squad
