Is that your professional legal opinion?

It is my opinion based on C.J. Roberts' own words. Will that do for you?

There was some chatter this weekend about Roberts' wife working for top law firms who also had interests in front of SCOTUS/Roberts and a conflict of interest not disclosed. Interesting timing with the big VRA cases and retirement rumors

The reddest of herrings and the straw-est of straw mans. No one said you had to be a lawyer to have an opinion. But YOU were the one that brought it up. Why did you if it wasn't an issue?

he isn't conservative. He rules based on feelings.

I think Roberts is a closet mo that married his long time friend as the beard.

It's actually amazing how many SC justices have very "non-traditional" lives. Roberts is one of them.

I think Roberts has been compromised since day one.

I hate to be a Debbie Downer butttttt…..Trump does forgive but he doesn't forget. DeSantis will never be one of his picks for the SC, totally out of character for the Donald.

The candidate will be like the last three Trump put forth, out of a judicial pool of candidates. You can bet it will be a practicing male judge.

I'm no lawyer but it seemed to me Roberts is always looking for the softest landing on any decisions and trying to make the fewest waves possible. It's almost as if he takes personal satisfaction when nobody is happy with the results.

Trump and DeSantis buried their hatchet. You may have forgotten that JD Vance wasn't exactly a Trump guy when he first came on the scene, and now he is VP.

Thomas won't retire. He wants the record for longest serving Justice if for no other reason than the way he was treated during his confirmation.

It's too bad Joe Biden won't be cognitively with it enough to understand the middle finger from Thomas when he reaches that milestone, considering the way old Joe and others treated him during that confirmation. I don't blame him.

He tries too hard to get along which made him such a poor choice for Chief Justice.

According to Wikipedia, he's at 34 years, 181 days and the record is 36 years, 209 days. So he could break it sometime in May of 2028 and still retire in time for Trump to replace him, assuming the Senate cooperates.

Talk is cheap, actually running against him after Trump had arguably saved his political career is not.

Desantis has no political future once his term as governor ends as long as Trump is the emperor of the party.

They have rekindle their broken relationship but it will never be like it was, seriously, you guys don't understand Trump. He doesn't forget when he forgives.

SCOTUS is Trump's legacy. He's appointed three so far and if he gets to appoint another one (or two), why not a 47 year old that the GOP absolutely loves is one of the best options there is. DeSantis has no shot at POTUS. That is between Rubio and Vance now. DeSantis has done nothing but make the left look like fools the last several years, so why not let him do it for 30 more w/o worry? He knows that the base would love it and he'd have arguably the greatest influence on our nation's history for the next 30 years.

The man is a narcissist. We all know that. But this would be a cherry on top for his legacy as POTUS.

I would rather have him 8 years as President, where he could appoint 2-3 genuinely Constitutionalist justices and wreck shop in Washington, and then he could be appointed to the SC by his successor. There is precedent with William Howard Taft.

"Taft was elected president of the United States in 1908 and during that time he appointed five members of the Supreme Court and advanced another to Chief Justice.
After his term of office ended, Taft taught law and constitutional history at Yale University, as well as a raft of political positions. In 1921, Taft was appointed Chief Justice of the Supreme Court by the 29th president, Warren G. Harding"
