I think the most important question is, would Governor DeSantis want to (immediately and permanently) go to DC, and join SCOTUS?

Gut instinct is "no."

Do you SERIOUSLY think ANYONE would take ANY invitation to be on SCOTUS and say...NAH...

The lawsplaining sessions from Chief Justice Cruz to the DEI Justice would be epic.

I would trust Vance or Rubio to do that too.

I would too. Their first appointment could be DeSantis after he sets the table for them from the Oval Office for eight years.

I would just like to see DeSantis get a shot. I have never seen a governor more conservative and suited to do what it would take to clean up the mess in Washington. If he could do in D.C. half of what he's done in Florida, this country just might have a chance.

I would love it too. I'm a huge fan of his. I just don't see that happening with the next ~16 years already planned out for the GOP. He'd be left in waiting too long.

One that I'm really really starting to like a lot is Brandon Gill too. That guy has been front and center a lot lately. Especially his attack on that DIGNIDAD bill

According to Wikipedia, he's at 34 years, 181 days and the record is 36 years, 209 days. So he could break it sometime in May of 2028 and still retire in time for Trump to replace him, assuming the Senate cooperates.

Knowing the Rinos in charge they would say that it is too close to the election and the new president should chose the new justice.

"The whistleblower is Kendal Price, a former managing director at Major, Lindsey and Africa, the legal recruiting firm where Jane Sullivan Roberts worked from 2007 to 2014. Price filed a federal complaint in December 2022 with the House and Senate Judiciary Committees and the Department of Justice. He attached internal company spreadsheets, his own sworn affidavit, Jane Roberts's 2015 arbitration testimony, and Gershman's supporting legal memorandum."

"The spreadsheets showed Jane Roberts earned $10,323,842.70 in commissions over those seven years on $13,309,433 in attributed firm revenue. An MLA partner described her in sworn testimony as the highest earning recruiter in the entire company by a wide margin."

SCOTUS is Trump's legacy. He's appointed three so far and if he gets to appoint another one (or two), why not a 47 year old that the GOP absolutely loves is one of the best options there is. DeSantis has no shot at POTUS. That is between Rubio and Vance now. DeSantis has done nothing but make the left look like fools the last several years, so why not let him do it for 30 more w/o worry? He knows that the base would love it and he'd have arguably the greatest influence on our nation's history for the next 30 years.

The man is a narcissist. We all know that. But this would be a cherry on top for his legacy as POTUS.

Agee 100%, hope I am wrong!.

Do you really think that an attorney as accomplished as Cruz would turn down the opportunity to be on SCOTUS, which is the pinnacle of what anyone in law could achieve?

Why do you think he wouldn't?

If there are term limits in Senate he would absolutely take it. As it stands he thinks he can impact more from his current position.

The reason I have been in the giant meteor party for 15 years. A giant meteor hitting DC would be just the restart this country needs. Trump is the closest thing to that who could ever possibly get elected.

It's a bit more than just the substack. May want to read what's in the substack. If any of it's true, it's pretty damning.

What's funny is the liberals would be more pissed to see Roberts go than the conservatives because most conservatives have felt he is compromised since ACA ruling.

How?

Right now he is one vote of 100.

On SCOTUS he is one vote of 9 (or 420 if the Dems get their wish).

Yeah, he's been a pretty terrible executive in Florida.

Okay. Just one guy's opinion. A guy almost the same age as DeSantis, from the same area, and so forth.

They've got three kids under the age of 8. Casey's got some things going on, between investigations, potential health concerns, and maybe even political aspirations of her own.

And my instinct is that the Governor is a doer, and might not think that SCOTUS is the best place for him now.

Not to mention the other side of things, the likelihood of being confirmed if he does want it and is nominated.

lol. My bad. I'm about out of sarcasm detection fluid . This state has benefited so much from DeSantis, my ability to detect the sarcasm is severely diminished!

Ok...

Now THAT is a fair enough rebuttal...

I will respectfully disagree that DeSantis would turn it down, though...

I understand his personal issues, but they have not stopped him from performing his current political duties.

I think he would take a SCOTUS appointment in a minute.

So, I agree to disagree.

Kiss my ass. It's been assumed by conservatives for years that Roberts is compromised/corrupt. Now more **** is rising to the top with his shadow docket strategies and continued leaks coming out of SCOTUS.

If liberals want him gone, they're fools against their own interests. Because I highly doubt another Trump appointment would go there way whereas Roberts has gone their way numerous times.

Would you rather have Roberts on the bench, with his penchant for going against conservatives, or a new Trump appointment?

I think Roberts is trying to be a model Chief Justice and try to show that he's completely unbiased.

But, if you looked at the post I made earlier, when he worked in the Reagan administration, he worked on trying to show that the VRA Sec 2 was unconstitutional. So, he's not a "liberal".

Actually go look up what he's done...

Explain Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Healthcare
Explain upholding the ACA mandates

The man is not a model Chief Justice to conservatives and has on numerous occasions voted against conservative principles and interpretations of the Constitution.

He may have started more conservative, but something has changed somewhere along the lines while he and his wife raked in $20MM+.
