The gov't grift is insane. Wife was an attorney for the SSA. The agency had set up a good ole boy system to promote their own to executive positions in the agency. Attorneys in the agency were excluded from even applying for most of the promotion possibilities.

Yeah, seems really odd. A Senior VP of a non-profit raking in 270k Id expect to have some business skills and a network to find another role. Unless of course, the organization was a total grift.

WTF man. I've never made that much and I am sure I am much more capable than she is. I should have gone into non-profits, I would have been a bazillionaire today.

I had a non-profit reach out to me when I was still in Oregon about a position that was relevant to my experience so decided to interview just for fun. It actually ended up seeming like an interesting gig and I asked about compensation and they said they were thinking $275k-$325k. (Wow!)

During the second interview it seemed to be going well until one person brought up my Texas background and it soured from there even though I had direct relationships with people at the agencies they were wanting to work with.

I didn't get the job, I was probably a little too ginger.

Yes but if she was smart, she would have saved and invested the money and lived frugally. She could have retired by now and traveled the world.

Not sure what she plans to do but smart people recognize when they are overpaid and don't expect it to last forever.
