Right.

I am sure each one of us would have taken up that job had it been offered to us.

So can we blame her?

Blame the crooked system which creates a mechanism to hire her or anyone else for 272k for such a position.

We did blame the system that created it. That's why the position doesn't exist anymore. Try to keep up buddy…

It is very unlikely that I would've been interested in that job.

I probably would have taken up the 272k but it would be mind-numbingly boring so just work other gigs on the side.

I have some friends who do 2 sometimes 3 full time jobs at the same time. As long as they don't get caught...

I have a friend who works 2 highly paid full time jobs. Might look for job 3 because he gets bored. He's 68 years old.

$28 million on salary + benefits (for 100 employees)
$12 million on subcontractors
$3 million on travel
$5 million on consultants
$9 million on other

So the average salary/benefits was $280,000 per year and the average employee spent $30,000 per year in travel ...

... and they spent 17 million per year hiring other people to do the real work ...

... and 9 million on who knows what.

Every one of these jacka**** should be thanking their lucky stars they just got terminated and aren't in prison.

She committed fraud (using taxpayer funds to do what exactly?) as did the ngo, they should be in prison. I don't feel sorry for them.

Yup I agree there.

But some shamed the woman and were happy she lost her job. I think that is not a good thing. One poster claims she committed fraud. She just took a job legally offered to her.

Uhmm, she also had to at least sign her name a few times, somewhere for that salary. Defrauding the US government is a crime, or so Mueller kept screaming about.

Being legally offered a job, does not exculpate later actions she took or did not take, while on that job. How many CYA memos did she write? My guess is zero.

USAID was gutted and as a result, so were many of the consulting firms that benefited from the grift.

So these people have no network any more. It's all been upended. They are now no different than the many flyover Americans they use to laugh at.

as someone who has lived in the DMV (DC Maryland Virginia) region off and on for 30 years

this is certainly not the case

there are LITERALLY thousands of different places where leftists who have no skills work in this region. there are literally 9 million people within 40 miles of DC.

I don't think it has wrecked the region entirely no, but I think you are also underestimating the impact this has had on the persons identified in the article per OP here, and throughout networks tied in one way or another to USAID funding until last year such as Tides foundation etc.

It's not going to crush DC-metro housing prices, but these are not completely untrue anecdotes for many, imho. Some of this I've had a lot to say about in the bigger USAID defunding thread, and it's still all accurate (again my opinion) and supported by analyses/links from folks like Benz/data republican etc. Clearly not 9 million people, but a lot, and probably closer to 250K with very formerly posh salaries/positions that are now gone/highly threatened.

I reiterate, there should not be a single "nonprofit" organization in the US!

The spirit if this article makes me think if that 20-something girl who posted what a day in her work life was like, and it was about 15% work and about 85% getting lattes, working out, and virtual meetings. The whole point was to brag how easy she had it working for a tech giant, or something, making a ridiculous salary.

Never occurred to her that she was documenting and making public why she was a waste and completely useless to her company. This generation (among others) doesn't think very much before they post something. They think everything must be displayed online . . . what she eats, where she shops, her hobbies, and every political thought that enters her mind on every issue.

Geico is actually running a commercial right now that makes fun of this. It's the one where the guy's basement floods and they are all trying to figure out how to frame posting it on social media. One of the Geico people makes the common sense comment "You know, you don't have to post everything that happens to you on social media." Then they all laugh at his comment like he's the insane one.

This gutting of fake NGO's and fake charities was good for the country and a necessary reset. That income statement of theirs should be a federal crime. If you are going to exist off taxpayer money as an NGO, then there should be some hard spending rules around how the money is spent similar to private charities getting independently rated on how much they give/grant vs overhead spend.

Maybe there is and those rules are just flat out ignored. I don't know. And I have little sympathy for the poeple impacted because I'm sure 90% of them are Democrats which makes them anti-American anyway.
