That area is very rough. I've done business in BR for over a decade and generally won't stay around there anymore.

The one on the stretcher was not a yute
I know three of the kids who were shot. They were seniors from my daughter's private school in Lafayette who decided to go to the Mall in BR for senior skip day.
One boy was grazed. One boy, a valedictorian admitted to an Ivy League school who wants to be a surgeon was shot in the hand.
And one senior girl is dead. Reported by the school to the students and making the rounds among the school family now. A sweet girl whom my daughter has been in school with since PreK and played softball and soccer with.
We moved to TX last year so my girl wasn't with them. These three kids were caught in the crossfire and totally innocent bystander victims.

Just found out one other wounded kid was also from my daughter's former school. So from a graduating class of 40, 3 wounded and 1 killed on senior skip day as innocent bystanders. At a mall 50 miles away. So random.
And my daughter is going to a funeral next week for another senior friend killed in a car accident. Now this.

A reminder to have your head on a swivel. If two groups are jawing at each other, you do not want to stick around, much less be in between.

Oh man. That's awful. I'm so sorry.
This was probably gang related because the police said the gunfire was the result of a confrontation between two groups and not a random shooting. Thoughts and prayers to the victims, police officers, EMS personnel, and families of all of them.
