They are IF they have a clean shot. That was impossible in that setting. Further, as I said earlier there were a lot of different SS details present. They hear additional shots fired without knowing friend or foe would have just caused more chaos prompting them to fire. That's a known reflex.

100%. With all the crazies in the world, at a hotel conference center, and no additional layers of security to identify a guy with a shotgun... i love our law enforcement but this should have never made the news... as in the guy should have been stopped before entering the building

He was a guest at the hotel, and had stashed the guns in a closet. If the fault lies anywhere, it's not properly sweeping the area.

The protective detail has OnE mission: get the protectee out of harms way ASAP by any means. They don't fight the attacker. They protect their assignment and execute the evacuation plan. They'd only shoot of there was no other way out.

Why? Dan Bongino has explained this. They don't know if there is more than one attacker or other threat. There is always also a second detail of agents that are basically like SWAT whose job is to bust in and engage, in addition to the overwatch and other agents who aren't assigned to a protectee.

I am not ready to slam individuals at all, and do salute the individual bravery shown, and am not a security expert, nor do I cosplay as one online, but this is the 3rd incident in under 2 years of someone armed with ill intent getting shots off at DJT in public. There are many other world leaders even more hated than Trump by leftists (and others) who go decades without such incidents.

And no, I don't think it's because they have confiscated all guns around them, but rather that they have security details and protocols that prevent this. Who has taken shots at Bibi, Putin, Starmer, various Arab rulers, or a political leader in SE Asia in the past 2 years? Most of those countries are packed with firearms.

This is a screaming example I'd say, though, of why we need the presidential ball room finished. The Hilton hotel just is not designed to be such a secure facility. /rant, thanks for listening.

Didn't we just decapitate the entire leadership of Iran a little over a month ago. Last night our entire leadership was in a single room for the opportunity of rubbing shoulders with a bunch of cub reporters. Why is our leadership in a single room at the same time? At the SOTU speech, a more purposeful gathering, at least one cabinet member stays away. We have not learned much.

A bunch of agents did good. These guys were in condition white, just assuming their job was done and nothing would happen. If they had been doing their job, he would have been immediately tackled, if not shot.

Agree 100%. Every body sucking off the incompetent secret service. The shooter was some radicalized loser from California who just waltzed right up and the dumb *******s got off four shots and didn't hit him once. Sorry but I'm not impressed.
