A Los Angeles jury acquitted four police officers involved in the arrest and beating of Rodney King. The local Black community responded by starting a riot that caused over a billion dollars in property damage and killed 63 people.

And this led to one Orenthal James Simpson - who was guilty - being acquitted.

I think a Kevin Smith 'Clerks' style movie about the Rooftop Koreans would be excellent. Got your Koreans with their guns just hanging out talking about the little things in life while waiting and watching the mobs rolling by. Could be awesome.

A very productive "motorist".

Google AI summary of his demise
Quote:

Rodney King, whose 1991 police beating sparked the 1992 Los Angeles riots, died on June 17, 2012, at age 47. He was found at the bottom of his swimming pool in Rialto, California, by his fiance. An autopsy and toxicology report ruled his death an accidental drowning, with alcohol, cocaine, and PCP in his system.

That was the beginning of the left jumping the shark and letting hood rats run the inner cities.

Pretty sure he had Covid too. The hospital capitalized on that as well.

that was brutal

I remember I had a piece of stereo equipmentt that was under warranty and it had failed.
I called their offices in Cali for days w/ no answer.
A guy answered finally and I explained my situation. He said, " I'm just a security guard. Ain't nobody been here for awhile, we got those riots you know. Might call back in a few days."

.........and if you wanna hear God laugh, tell him your plans.

"ClowardPiven strategy" is often used to describe an alleged tactic to:

* Overwhelm government systems (welfare, immigration, etc.)
* Create crisis conditions
* Use the crisis to justify expanding government power

I would watch this....if Kevin Smith didn't make it. His movies suck.

His Daredevil run was great.

I was in the Field at Fort Hood doing Tank Gunnery and didn't hear about it for a week.

A slow speed chase didn't make any sense to me, and why would it be televised?

Today, it would have a million people live streaming it from the overpasses.

Society waited until a not guilty verdict before rioting with King.

With Floyd, the riots happened after Chauvin was thrown in jail and charged with murder....later convicted.

I can understand the outrage on King, but with Floyd it was clearly a political election scheme.

About a year after that, I interviewed at Hughes Aircraft in El Segundo. Right across the street from LAX.

People there told me about looking out the office window and seeing multiple fires burning across the cityscape. And they were trying to convince me to take a job there?

While in the Marine Corps, our unit was activated to run through the streets as a show of force. We had a 1000+ Marines running through the streets singing songs dressed up as trees.

Thankfully it was the only action I ever saw in the Marines. We saved several VCR's and Futons from falling into the wrong hands. While we had no weapons, the so adequately described "Rooftop Koreans" had our backs.

Fun times, but man we ran at least 15 miles that day.

It was the biggest news story in America if not the world at the time. That's why it was televised.
