Whatever man. It was going to cost 7x the original proposal but now they've "optimized" it to only be 4x.

They are saving taxpayer dollars here.

And Trump pulled the remaining funds ($4B) for this last year.

LOL liberals. Trump needs to cut off all funding.

In other news, BART (mass transit trains) in San Fran has a large structural budget deficit -- roughly $350 - $400 million each year.

and are on the verge of:

reducing service from five lines to essentially three main lines
running trains only every 30 minutes
ending service at 9:00 PM every day
raising fares and parking fees by about 30%
laying off hundreds of employees


But ignore the BART stuff and let's continue this bullet train boondoggle to transfer the little Marxists from San Fran to LA, two crime ridden, socialist hellscapes!

We are about to go full blown self driving cars on highways and these morons are still pursuing this fantasy.

Trains!!!! By god we will have trains!!! Never seen such a devotion to a mode that is a financial money pit and obsolete. But it is a Democrat fantasy, so I guess that makes sense in that regard.

They started construction of this thing near where I grew up out there about 12 years ago. I saw them pushing dirt when I was visiting family in Fresno north of town along the Highway 99 corridor. Now in 2026, they have a large concrete bridge in place in that same spot, but not a single inch of infrastructure touched within the ROW from that spot on the north side of Fresno to the south where it comes in to town several miles away, and it's my understanding they haven't even acquired all of the rights to use the property they need in that strech. I highly doubt they'll have that stretch completed and ready to go by 2033.

It is about a way to rationalize and justify a massive public jobs program that hires political constituents and supporters and allows for maximum grift and opportunities to push public tax dollars into your side of the political structure

The idea of being able to get between Houston and Dallas quickly is very appealing, can't remember if it included San Antonio, but what you have to do to get it done is not. Both financially and morally.
