At some point you'd think even the most TDS infected moderates would ask themselves how many moderates have to leave the before they realize this isn't what they signed up for either. That remains to be seen.

And for the Democrat Party, that comes down to leadership and candidate selection and funding. Ken Martin may have started out thinking he could rein in the leftists (I am being generous there) but those headwinds are too great. His job is also to raise money. So when his donor class is telling him which direction they will open their wallets? Leadership also includes that donor class. They are the oil in that machine.

Sad to see so many cheering on this lurch to the left by the Republican party. Let's welcome Fetterman with open arms! Bring RFK Jr! What could possibly go wrong!

Yall are going to be longing for the "Glory Days" of W if these libs take a hold of the party.

As far as I'm concerned, RFK Jr. has been a fantastic addition to Trump's team. I don't agree with everything the man does, but him putting the choice back in my hands makes me pretty freaking happy.

A party necessarily involves a coalition though.....

There is a utility to it, keeping the Collins/Rockefeller/Sununu etc

I 100% agree.

Let's bring in Chuck Shumer and Dick Durbin. Build that coalition!

All yall are doing is rapidly shifting the Overton Window. Cornyn would be a damn far right winger in this party yall dream of.

that is such dismal short sighted thinking and a major reason conservatism fails at being implemented.

the very first vote he would take would be between Chuck Schumer or John Thune as MAJORITY LEADER

if you don't understand the importance of the GOP holding the Senate and the Ranking members then that's insane.

If you don't understand the importance of remaining conservative, well, then you are exactly who everyone thinks.

Though none of this matters because he isn't switching parties. Why? Because he is a HUGE LIBERAL.

So if the demoncrats gain 51 seats in the Senate in 2026, the ideological purists of F16 will be happy that Fetterman remains one of them rather than pollute the GOP with his liberal ways?

He is not "moderate". He's very liberal.

Yes, but at least he's not very left-wing.
No, I don't care what CNN or Miss NOW said this time

At some point you're going to have to come to grips with the fact that remaining conservative isn't on the menu right now. It's moderate or communist. Those are your choices. I don't like it either but that and $7 will get you a coffee at Starbucks.

If they ever again get to 50+1 in the senate, as would be possible if Fetterman is re-elected as a dem, and win the WH and House in 2028, they will add 7+ SCOTUS DEI seats (picture a Justice Boasberg) plus several new states (DC, PR etc), after nuking the filibuster. Dick Durbin is retiring and a jihadist is the leading candidate to replace him on their side. Schumer is unlikely to make it past 2028, too.

I respectfully disagree with you on this. The stakes are just too high not to favor a 'big tent' Senate caucus at the very least.

Fetterman may have some independent thought that goes against the mass messaging of the Dems, but he is still very much a Dem. Rather just run a Republican against him. Although, he will likely be primaried.

3 of those are basically libertarian, and abortion/infanticide is no longer a federal legislative issue. Trump worked heavily to court the labor vote for himself/the GOP in 2024, to some success.

Snap is often abused and is out of control, but appropriations start in the House, not the senate for that. My point isn't to agree with him whole-heartedly, but that none of that would/should be disqualifying for a flip in the Senate to the GOP, imho.

"Heating up" like Jack Frost's pinky toe in January.
