I have a suspicion that Ted agreed with the direction they took CNN. Any evidence to the contrary?

I used to fish in streams on his Vermejo ranch in Northern New Mexico. That's about all I can say to the topic

I appreciate that he syndicated Gilligan's Island on TBS. 30 minute life lessons for Gen X. Improvise, adapt, overcome, and keep a close eye on MaryAnn and Ginger.

That suspicion could be valid based on his relationship with Jane Fonda

Remember, Trump is actually kind of a political ret@rd and isn't and has never really been a true conservative. Then his post will make much more sense.

Ted Turner was a flaming liberal and enemy of the Republic. He was married to Jane f'ing Fonda for crying out loud.

In the words of Robin Williams, "Ted Turner and Jane Fonda broke up. Jane found God and Ted found out it wasn't him."

He was no doubt influential in media. CNN, TBS, TNT, Cartoon Network, Turner Classic Movies.

I will forever remember his dumbass $1B donation to the United Nations. Can't imagine the level of waste that money contributed to. lol.

Funding Gettysburg and Gods and Generals was one good thing he did.

Too bad G&G got nuked by the racial grievance industrial complex so The Last Full Measure was never made.

That was quite a long time ago. He was definitely a lifetime Democrat, but I don't know if he would align with the Democrat party of today as most decent, not insane people his age would not. And Jane Fonda has never been decent so I guess he did have a lapse there.

If he had any decency to him, he would've been disgusted at the way his network had changed. But who knows? Unless he said it outright.

Up until Trump came on the political spectrum. I used to flip between CNN and MSNBC and Fox now and then or at least read online but you just can't even go over to the former too anymore. It's just pure opinion loathing of Trump and bull*****

It's a shame because I'm old enough to remember when CNN came out and that was a novel concept for the time having news around the clock. Now people don't think anything of it.
I don’t get enough credit for the things I manage not to say.

Turner had one of the few genetically pure bison herds (no cattle interbreeding) and donated bulls to save other herds.

He had a fairly large impact on bison conservation in general.

I had to watch Gettysburg at the CS cinemark in college to get extra credit in American history.

24 hours straight of A Christmas Story on TBS every year gets the thumbs up from me.

Would you put Clay Travis in the same boat as Trump? Clay essentially posted highly about him today as well.

Im guessing trump would have a better idea of how turner felt about the plight of cnn than people speculating on a message board that have likely never met either of the two.

I knew the previous owner of that ranch. Ted paid way over market price. Let's just say Jane controlling 100% of something non-financial had a lot to do with that decision.

It is important to remember that Trump probably had a lot of dealings with Turner decades ago, but none of them would have had faith or politics at the center of them.

I imagine Turner was more old school dem who most assuredly voted for all democrats, but probably differed a lot with them on policy. Trump's perspective on Turner likely has nothing to do with Turner's politics.

Would be my guess as well. Trump likes self made men who were very good in business, good enough to become billionaires.

At one point in time, Ted Turner owned more acres of land than anyone on the planet. In his old age he spent lots of time chasing elk on his Montana holdings. That's the kind of billionaire I'd like to be...

Interview with him from last year says he spent most of his time in last several years at his Tallahassee home.

F that but I'm guessing he wanted to be closer to civilization due to his age but that's me speculating.

He had a front row seat to watch how the Country, and world were changing around him. That would be a pretty neat view to have.

At the time of his passing he was the fourth largest landowner in the US according to a couple of websites.

I cannot vouch for the accuracy of this information.

While I'm sure Ted had a huge ego and may have been a bit of a narcissist, I think the person in this group with the God-like complex was clearly Jane. Of course, letting her get away with treason and/or giving aid and comfort to the enemy in Vietnam sort of fed that.

He was ill. Had Lewy Body Syndrome. Something like Parkinson's with dementia type symptoms too.

Gettysburg was good. Gods and Generals was a lost cause melodrama.
