And sadly, 90% of graduating high school students for the last 10 years have no idea what we are talking about

This is why we home school. Our girls are 7 and 3. We have be known to read things like "The Art of War" at the dinner table. I cannot wait for them to get a little older and I will take them on a big WWII European trip.

Of course, neither Patton nor Montgomery were ever in Tunisia and certainly never landed in Italy. Riight.

A large percentage of German POWS that were brought stateside were captured in North Africa, but whatever.

you literally wrote that Patton linked up from Italy with the Normandy invasion and "miraculously so"

then you get mad when someone points out that you are just factually incorrect?

in fact, Patton never even invaded or commanded troops in mainland Italy.

he was cashiered from command after slapping a battle shocked soldier in Sicily

On my father's behalf (who parachuted into Normandy on d-day, parachuted into holland at Nimejjan, fought in the Bulge and occupied Berlin)…..can I just add what a total failure Montgomery was outside of North Africa. Out run by Patton in Sicily. Bogged down trying to break out from Caen, bogged down trying to link the bridges in holland. Just could not decisively win a non, set piece battle later in the war.

Sadly we could never band together as a country and do something like this again. Obviously hope it would never need to happen again, but we're screwed if it does. Can you imagine Gen Z fighting evil?

Dad, from the 311th Combat Engineers archive. He bridged 7 rivers during the last 8 weeks of the war including being the first Engineer group across the Danube, Isar and Inn.

Dad with his buddies in Austria at War's end clowning around...Dad was "der Fhrer"
