This. I have a client based on the UK and the consistent them is how decentralized everything is here. 44 different sales tax laws. 50 different answers to individual and business income taxes. They're all playing by the same set of rules so unless you don't want to be British then there's nowhere to go. In the U.S. you can flee liberal economic policies and still be American. That's how we were designed and clearly it still works or people wouldn't be fleeing NYC and California at the rates we're seeing.

And that includes most of the continent of Europe. Just watched a video by a German who is now living in Miami. With all of the taxes, regulations, restrictions, censorship, etc. he's never going back to live there again.

Biggest reason he cited was our freedom to do whatever we want. Where to live, which job one can have, which risks one can choose to take.

This is a problem proponents of the European multiparty rank choice system never acknowledge. That system does have some advantages over our own but it also creates more incentives for politicians to hold their own party hostage.

Nah, he's just the product of his ideology and circumstance. If you believe your opposition is evil AND you are operating in a system where you can force your own party to keep you in power when alternatives exist you're going to do what he's doing. It's just the natural extension of the system as constructed. A fascist in his position would use the same threat to implement uniparty legislative action to prevent BOTH himself and his party from being removed from power.

The only difference between us and them in this scenario is that our system doesn't really allow for such a thing. Joe Biden's ouster against his will is a very recent illustration of this. You can argue that is good or bad but it just is. And you really can't claim a party and leader with a supermajority for two years NOT permanently cementing themselves into power in a parliamentary system that actually allows for it is an example of fascism.
