Same, the one I posted was the first link that popped up though. I'm lazy, it is what it is.

NB fired their city attorney over this last night. She didn't catch it until an outside party brought it to the city's attention. They have a city charter rule on the books for 30 years that is conflict with state rules.

Funny tidbit, the "outside party" happens to be a friend and law school classmate of the current mayor. Even if completely on the up and up, it all still looks a little fishy.

New Braunfels sucks now. Everything about it sucks. The people. The politicians. The traffic. I can trace it back all the way to Mayor Popsicle (Pospil or something like that). I'm counting the days until I can get the hell out of here.

TBF, you can say that about damn near any town in the triangle between Houston, DFW and San Messico.

Too many people, the state is fooked.

When my youngest graduates high school, I'm noping the F out of where I am at now. Probably to another state because there isn't anywhere in Texas that isn't on the downhill slide, already at rock bottom or right at the edge about to roll down the hill. I hate this need to grow continually and build AI data centers on every street corner, etc.

But I'm old and crotchety and generally hate people as a rule, so there's that.

I picked up on that as well.

Seeing lots of chatter online pushing for an overall charter review for the City. Who know what other flaws are in it?

That is where all my old German relatives settled. There and out by Geronimo. I still tend several graves there.

I have some German heritage friends with the last name Krueger and they pronounce it like Kreeger, Folks across the road from our subdivision are also of German heritage and have the last name Kueble and pronounce it Keeble. so maybe Reekle Road?

Former US Ambassador Robert Krueger was from New Braunfels. The media always pronounced it KROO-ger. My mom always said they were pronouncing it wrong. I think she knew some of the family.

My mother was a Voigt. They always pronounced like F-long O-silent I-harg G-T... FOGT

I moved to Boerne 29 years ago and the same mindset has dominated that city's "leadership". Most folks seeking public office lack self awareness, to the detriment of us all. It's a vicious cycle I tell you!

I see the same thing in almost every small town near big city. When the town starts encountering growth, the long time locals usually aren't equipped to deal with it. The folks who get voted in (usually voted in by the new residents) are newcomers with their heads up their backsides who don't know any better and start promoting the bad ideas they were trying to escape. It's like a cancer.

I know what you mean. Fixing to hit 70. Get more cranky everyday. North of Dallas by the river, so it's not nearly like down there. And then the neighbor across the road decides to divide his pasture, and just like that looks like 2 tracts have sold already. Don't want ay more neighbors. But if we move, the wife wants to BE BY THE SALT WATER. Just not enthused by being somewhere inundated by people every summer.

The Jellystone Park was built in the late-70s/early 80s, near the time the Glastron Boat factory was built. In fact, the RV park people offered to by my grandparents land to expand their park. For point of reference, my mother graduated NBHS in the late 1950s.

People used to be wonderful overall, almost as a rule. At this point there are still some wonderful folks but they're being drowned out by all the inconsiderate *******s that are flooding in and slowly turning it into the exact same thing they came to get away from.

When a bunch of folks leave cities and move to a smaller place, and instead of adopting the values and behaviors of that place, keep acting just like they did at their last stop, they just slowly contaminate and trash it up like anywhere else. And once it's ruined, the cycle will repeat.

8th generation New Braunfels checking in. Don't live there anymore but family still does. I'm just outside next door on the county line. I find the entire thing comical.
