If you want to get away from the crowds, but stay in Texas, you'll have to stick with low growth areas

There's West Texas, Permian, South Plains, Panhandle . Water will be a major issue inside 20 years though

There's Piney Woods but geez who wants to move there

Trans Pecos. Have your retirement shored up because there's no jobs

South and South Central Texas (not SA or RGV).

The Triangle is damn near uninhabitable unless you like 23,000,000 people, crowds, idiot local governments, etc

Why do half the people who say the name of that town mispronounce it? It's really quite something.
I used to work with a guy who called it News Braunsfeld.

I am on a a one-kraut crusade to get people to pronounce Rueckle Road correctly.

Standard German [kl] RUE-kluh (Short 'ue' to replace umlat 'u'...'e' at the end pronounced like an 'a')

You attended one of Burdizzo's seminars?

Worth every penny in my opinion.

Whatever, when I was growing up in NB in 80s/90s the population was 20k; that ship sailed long ago and it is what it is at this point.

officially I think it was 32k on the city limit sign. Lived there 1988-2004 and my parents are still there.

The population in was 22k in 1980 and 27K in 1990 but things started to take off in the late 90s so it probably did. In 2020 it was 90K and the current estimate is around 130K, hard to contemplate.

The good thing is that, for all of the growth, things really have not changed much inside the loop the past 30 years; when I go home it still feels like the place I grew up. Once you go south of 35 or outside 337 it's another story though.

ETA: And Rueckle Road is correctly pronounced RICK-lee per the olds but I didn't learn this until HS so I still call it ROO-cul or something close to that. Probably not proper German but people aren't going to say Seguin or Llano correctly either.
