Every AWFL from NoVa to Annapolis is up in their gay husbands ear because their mini matlidoodle has not stopped barking and has pissed on their BLM rug.
A 2 mile run this morning. First place in Master's. Marched in a parade after that. Then a trip downtown for tapas and shopping at World Market. Then fireworks on Waugh. 30,000 steps, and #250 is in the books. Hard to believe I've been around for 22% of America's history.
94chem,
That, sir, was the greatest post in the history of TexAgs. I salute you. -- Dough
Silence of bird/animal activity for a second (like they knew it was coming), then Crack-BOOOOOMMMM!
I was young but thought it was cool when Dad explained to me what it was.
So, I know they were banned somewhere in that timeframe because of people claiming property damage like cracked windows, etc. I get it. However about 6 years ago, me and some buddies (I was the oldest dad by far) had our kids deer hunting in some blinds along/down in a river bottom and the crows were absolutely annoyingly loud and then a second of complete silence....Crack-BOOOOOMMM! you felt it in your chest. Instantly the other dads started texting "WTF was that/holy heck what just happened, etc." My text back was sonic boom. It was exactly like when I was young. Exactly. Actually made a great deer stand moment with me and my son, explaining what it was, and the group back at the camphouse that evening was kinda pumped while I told them it was common place when I was a young'un. Very 'Merica.
Don't know who/why protocol was breeched, but it was pretty cool to hear it again.
Wouldn't you like to be a fly on the wall at Martina McBride's house. She and others turned down the invitation to perform. Then they were totally forgotten because of the outstanding performance of the Armed Forces Orchestra and their amazing singers. We don't need to look anywhere else for our musical entertainment. The Military does just fine.

Yeah that was stupid. You're missing a spot in history. Oh well.

Martina, Brett Michaels (Poison) and the other artists were not being noble and all by saying they "could not perform because it was going to be 'more political' than they had been lead to believe". They were told in no uncertain terms behind the scenes that their careers would be ruined at all cost if they perform as planned. Cancelling of the highest order.
That being said, I don't know if they got to perform or not, but Skynard and also Sammy Hagar were there and ready to play but the storms had them taking cover. Sammy said he'd play in any conditions to party with all his American buddies.
My nonagenarian father and I stayed up and watched it all. President Trump's speech was great, especially with all the veterans from WWII, Korea, and Vietnam being able to persevere (again) through the severe thunderstorm delay. It was really great to see all the old stars and stripes they had on display onstage.
🚨 The Tall Ships and the legendary Amerigo Vespucci in Sandy Hook Bay, waiting for America’s 250th anniversary celebrations, caught in a squall at anchor, looked literally like a painting from the 1700s
