.......You had a full time job, full pension, affordable house, 4 kids, all on one income.

Then you wanted your home prices to go up, so you voted for other boomers who would manipulate interest rates lower.

Poof, now your home is worth 10x what you paid.

Then you wanted your stocks to go higher so you got rid of pensions for everyone after you, voted for mass immigration and outsourcing.

Poof, now the stock market is up 70% higher than it would have been without manipulation.

Now you're a millionaire for performing at a very average level.

Now that you absolutely destroyed the United States for everyone after you, its time to complain about paying taxes on the millions you were gifted through manipulation.

So you don't know if she's a boomer but you concluded she is based on your stated criteria . I'll admit it's probably a decent bet but still not verified . I really was curious how you "knew" .

Looks like a lot of people recognize the damage the Boomers did and are calling them out openly.

OP...

May I suggest...

  • Make delayed gratification a part of your lifestyle.
  • Save, save, save.
  • Eat at home more.
  • Invest in stocks...bypass the CD's or the Bonds.
  • Live below your means.
I can't speak for all Boomers, but that's what got us to the promised land.

Good luck.

Toddy, that is the way. You have the secret!

That is somewhat how AI works. You take a bunch of data that you know to be correct, and then generate a bunch of complex generalized rules based on that to predict on new data.

We love AI, why not love the OP?

They took the stated benefits out of a program the generation before them forced them to pay in to?

Those meanies.

There's a house on Clear Lake that did just the same thing. Lifted the whole thing up, garage and all. The garage doors are still there, albeit with a ten foot drop-off.

A few years ago when my father was sick in the hospital, I went on a walk to relieve stress and came across that house.

That does look funny. They've done a bunch in Nassau Bay like that.

Now they just need a lift to get the cars in and out of the garage!

Typical GenZ OP. Spout off something with brazen confidence while being completely ignorant about a common and normal thing.

Yeah my first thought was................I see you've never been to the coast

Or a dum..., I mean a Z'er that has no idea that hurricanes exist or have a thing a called storm surge. Its scary how these young folks are slurping up the "hate, blame they neighbor" BS on line. The Z'er are turning to hate and envy filled ideologies such as socialism or fascism for solutions.

Its sad they dont know enough about history or in this case, weather, to know how the world works, or worked in the past, or is to work in the future. That said. We can cut back on some of the greed and exploitation we are seeing in this monopolistic/oligopolistic version of capitalism that's developing. Ethical Capitalism is the way.

Why, oh why is humanity always making the same dumb mistakes over and over. There was an old book written between 1440BC and 100 AD that figured much of this stuff out. To bad its not read more often by more more people.

Yep this is a real demographic thing. Late boomers, Jones, and hippies are on opposite ends of the political, economic, and social spectrum

If it's structurally sound, that's probably how homes should be built by the ocean.

I've always wondered why I'm considered a boomer. I was born 17 years after WW II - is that really part of the baby boom?

You seem like a whiny spoiled brat that was spoiled by boomer parents that worked long hours and didnt have the time to bust your butt often enough.

Dang. It's like you were actually listening in on the secret Boomer meeting, when we all got together in 1970 to decide how the next 50 years would go.

Some of us weren't even 10 yet but we were still able to mastermind global finance and rig future election results.

I look back fondly on all my many votes in favor of mass immigration when the issue was on the ballot.

Imagine you're a boomer. Yes, I was born in 1957.

You had the best economy in the history of the world. Seriously? When I went to work in 1981 mortage rates were double digits.

You got into a great college with **** grades (if you went at all). Agree. I got into A&M with a 1060 SAT.

You had a full time job, full pension, affordable house, 4 kids, all on one income. BS. There was no pension, and we could not make it work with one income.

Then you wanted your home prices to go up, so you voted for other boomers who would manipulate interest rates lower. Quite honestly, home values in Texas were stagnent for about 30 years.

Poof, now your home is worth 10x what you paid. Not 10 times. But it has appreciated, kinda like the stocks we own.

Then you wanted your stocks to go higher so you got rid of pensions for everyone after you, voted for mass immigration and outsourcing. What a crock of manure.

Poof, now the stock market is up 70% higher than it would have been without manipulation. Just 70%? Wow, you must not be following the market.

Now you're a millionaire for performing at a very average level. No, I took risk, and it has paid off.

Now that you absolutely destroyed the United States for everyone after you, its time to complain about paying taxes on the millions you were gifted through manipulation. And again, you are full of manure. I'll pay the taxes...and I'll by-pass some of those taxes by giving to charities as I've been blessed and wish to pass my good fortune on to others.

Back to the OP, sure, she might not flood...but hurricane force winds are sending that thing into the next county,

All thread, strong walls and a ton of straps and nails. But yea, it's probably still a waste of money.

As soon as any part of the building envelope fails the entire structure disintegrates into the wind. A door, a few windows or the roof lifting just a tad. There is a wind tunnel in North Carolina (?) where they do this research. Videos are epic, if a bit frightening.

Don't forget the other houses that are not so reinforced slamming into those extra high stilts when they get surged.

Take a drive through Meyerland by Braes Bayou in Houston. They've raised multiple houses, concrete slabs included, close to 10 ft.

There's a few in JV near the lake that have been raised as well.

No bracing on the stilts!

But leave it to the engineers to come up with ever more clever and expensive ways to build houses upon the sand. Just like the Bible says.

People line up to buy gasoline during an oil embargo (1974). Oil embargoes in the 1970's led to mass shortages and meant hours waiting at line at the pump
