#2 in the Senate leadership GOP gravy train is out on his ass and that's a good thing. Not sure how Paxton will do in there, but better than the old entitled guy that can't find his ass from a hole in the ground.

George W B, Abbott, Cornyn, and John Sharp are all cut from the same cloth. Glad the voters kicked ketchup brisket to the curb.

If Cornyn was a RINO, then I don't really know what a Republican is supposed to be. If he was too far left, then I think this is maybe where I get off the train.

So many Concerned Moderates coming out of the woodworks. If you all voted for Cornyn he'd still be around next year!

I voted for him twice in three months! Did my best to keep out the freaks like French and Middleton too. I'm afraid these primaries are going to be a race to the bottom until somebody finally loses a general. That's really the only way to discipline the primary voters.

Going to join the moronic Democrat train?

Ideologically the right has only moved left. The voters have just tired of weak Republicans unwilling to stand up to the Democrat's and their propaganda machine. Their weakness has empowered the Democrats to act corruptly with near impunity.

The Democrat party has moved way left in the last decade. They can only win using propaganda, lies, censorship and cheating. There is absolutely no redeeming value to that party and I'm doubtful there ever will be.

Maybe now we can get the representation we've been asking for. The feckless Republicans that are only there to enrich themselves have been put on notice. MAGA isn't a fad. We want our country back.

He was fat and happy in his DC bubble. He didn't represent us anymore, and thanks to the voters he won't represent us anymore. It's a good thing.

What are you going to say when Paxton wins by 15 - 20 pts in November?

I guess I will acknowledge that the Primary voters have not, in fact, been disciplined, and that I hope we are all represented well.

That last comment perfectly encapsulates the problem with the Republican establishment. What an arrogant statement to think the primary voters need to be disciplined. Maybe the Party needs to be more focused and attentive to what the voters expect and demand.

Looks to me like the state Republican Party is the one that just got disciplined.

Last two election cycles I left the senate line blank. I couldn't vote dem, but I wouldn't vote for him either. Texas should do better and this is good. Paxton might fail as a senator, but he's not worse than Cornyn.

That's exactly what I've done with Paxton in his AG races. Never once voted for him, never once voted for his Democratic opponent

What could restore some honor to the GOP.

Once a Rep or Senator gets in to their 60's, they should be openly courting their replacement. By their 70's it's an imperative. If they really cared about conservative leadership and values they would be talking up their successors and helping them move up.

That's what I would do. The "older" leadership should be cultivating the next generation, promoting them, working to ensure their success.

I can't say the dems do this, because they certainly don't. What's happening to the dems is a hostile takeover by the commie wing and make no mistake, the commie wing is winning.

When 'conservative' is just defined as whatever DJT says on a given day, hard to not be called a RINO.

Are you going to vote for the Republican senate candidate in November or leave it blank?

And is one of the reasons you voted for Cornyn because you felt like Paxton couldn't win the general?

If you don't vote for the Republican candidate in November, and we lose that seat, will you be saying I told you so to all the Paxton voters?

not to take away from the enormity of this race, because Paxton winning really really was a huge deal, but Cornyn has not been in leadership for awhile.

He's not a RINO. Far from it. Just not conservative enough for what Texas republicans want in the senate.

As stated in another thread, all Cornyn had to do to keep his seat was to take Paxtons offer that he'd drop out if Corny would help get the Safe act passed. Guess protecting his fellow grifter DemocRATS and Thune was important enough he'd fall on his sword for it. This ought to speak volumes on RINO trash.

Good riddance to Senatorial RINO Rubbish!

This. He'd show up once every six years to beg for his job. And the statistical voting record is only a necessary condition, but isn't sufficient. Texas needs to have leadership in the Senate.

Behind the scenes, he's supported the rino's/swamp with a fever for years:
Quote:

Cornyn Funded Murkowski After Her Vote to Convict Trump
According to FEC filings, the Cornyn Victory Committee donated $367,763.46 to Lisa Murkowski's campaign for U.S. Senate. These contributions followed Murkowski's 2021 vote to convict Trump during his second impeachment trial, led by then-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, related to the January 6th. In a statement after her vote, Murkowski said, "By inciting the events that culminated on January 6, President Trump's actions and words were not protected free speech. While I honor our constitutional rights, including freedom of speech, that right does not extend to the President inciting violence."

Quote:

Cornyn's Financial Support Continued with Mitt Romney
Similarly, FEC records show that since 2023, the Cornyn Victory Committee contributed $179,459.88 to Romney for Utah Inc., despite Romney having voted to convict Trump in both of his impeachment trialsfirst in 2020 over Trump's call with Ukraine's president and again in 2021 following the January 6 events. Romney described January 6th as an "insurrection incited by President Trump" prior to his 2021 vote. Trump responded to Romney's first impeachment vote with a post on X, stating, "Had failed presidential candidate @MittRomney devoted the same energy to defeating Barack Obama as he does to me, he could have won the election."

He was chair of the NRSC all the way back in 2010, when he equivocated between Miller, who defeated Murkowski in the primary.

The conservative angst against cornyn has been present for awhile. Local talk radio always spoke against him all the way back to probably 2010ish . Michael berry called him John "Wayne" Cornyn making fun of his ads I think in the 2008 or 2014 campaign. Memory is a bit fuzzy. This idea that it's only just cuz of MAGA or trump or conservatives are bending their ideals isn't accurate.

Im conservative. Not MAGA conservative. Trump was re-elected with a massive mandate, and the Republican Congress has done NOTHING to advance conservatism or to pass Trump's agenda.

John Cornyn is a George Bush Sr fake conservative. Hes a country club republican. I am sorry you can't tell the difference. Glad Cornyn learned it first hand. There's always some lame excuse why republicans can't do what their voters elected them to do. Cornyn's excuse is gone now.

100 percent this! And it is about time. Any failure in the general is not on the voters, it is on the Republican Party of Texas.
