MLB is the only major U.S. professional sport exempt from antitrust scrutiny. Time for that to end so players have a choice on where to play

if you ended their antitrust exemption, they'd still have a CBA and still have a draft.

pride night is not league wide, its just seems that way because all but rangers do it.

many teams (not close to all but 1) do have faith & family night.

Well, that's good to know. I will stand down and save the MLB from my rage.

Me and everyone else can turn off our TVs and get our baseball fix at the HS or college diamond. problem solved.

yes, you can.

not sure how that changes that players can opt out of wearing the pride clown costume of the MLB draft rules, but you definitely can do that.

That's nice of Rob, but the pitchers make twice as much in a year as his entire net worth is. I think they can afford to pay their own fines.

Roughly half of the teams do or have done a Faith & Family Night. Houston did theirs on 4/17, The Rangers are doing one this Thursday.

I don't think players should have anything religious/political on their uniforms. I also don't think MLB should have anything political either. No "Pride Night/Month" or whatever. Also keep religion out of ball.

Play ball and leave it at that. I'm fine with recognizing African American history in the sport, but nothing beyond that. Also cancer awareness or other charity promotions is ok.

Way to piss off the Christians in your fan base

Is kowtowing to the minority that makes up the LGB community really that important?

Quote:

"The writing on the cap violates our rules, and consistent with normal practice, we have warned the players about future violations," Pat Courtney, MLB's chief communications officer, told The Athletic in a statement that Outsports first reported.

What Christians are fans of any California-based team?

San Diego. But I don't know if you can be a Christian AND a Dodgers or Giants fan.

Seriously though...Petco Park is probably my new favorite stadium and environment in baseball after attending a recent game...and lot's of good/normal people and families in attendance compared to your avg Dodgers game just a couple hrs north. I feel like there is more riff raff at a Stros game than Padres.

If blacks represent 10% of the number of players and they get one night or one month of recognition, should whites and other groups get 9 nights or 9 months of recognition?

I don't follow MLB so I was pretty shocked to recently learn that the records from the African American Leagues are used in MLB records. I think African American athletes should certainly be recognized but this was just silly.

Based off the current MLB make up, Latin America should get 70% of the nights. And Ohtani probably deserves 10% for himself.

No issue with that. Also praying before/after the game is cool, especially with others. Just don't showboat it.. And if they talk about how Christ or faith is important to them in an interview, that is cool as well. I'm a Christian and I will think more highly of the player/coach. Again, is this not a direct instruction on this issue?

Quote:

Matthew 6:56 (NIV): "And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you."

10% of 12 months is 1.2! Blacks are getting screwed! In the NFL they are 53% of the population!

Also, MLB needs a Jap Day for Ohtani! Polynesia/South Pacific - maybe a quarter of a game?

C'mon man. Slavery and racial discrimination were pretty bad in this country. We are past that now, but a tip of the cap recognizing how far we've come is not a big deal.

At least we don't have to recognize the Holocaust in any sports. Maybe a banking or stock market holiday?

Sure but when they do Faith and Family nights do the players all wear special uniforms with a cross on the front and angel wings on the back and their names in papyrus font? Do we get special commemorative hats with the ten commandments on them?

I'm pretty much anti every pro league. NFL and NBA actually bother me more, but probably because I pay more attention to them. NFL for pretty much everything and NBA for a lot, including their kowtowing to China. MLB has hit my radar less in the last decade or so.

In the article/tweet linked in the OP (or one of the first few posts) it says the MLB has a blanket rule against writing on uniforms and caps, and they have warned players for writing things like "Dad" "Hi Mom" and family members names. So this doesn't seem like a targeted "anti-Christian" move, but just business as usual.

One player mentioned wore the regular cap, which was allowed, so this seems like nothing to get too worked up over, even if you are pro-Christian and anti-gay lobby, as am I.

I know the astros don't change the uniforms, and have never heard of any team doing it.

but according to the freaks, the cross is offensive. rainbow is not.

Bobble Head Day, Pride Day, Bring Your Dog Day, Daddy Daughter Day, Faith and Family Day -- the theme here should be that these are events that fans CHOOSE to participate in.

Thankfully, players are no longer forced to participate as they were in years past, but not participating is just as controversial especially in major markets like SF, LA, and NY... it remains stupid and absurd this is such an issue.
