One party both attracts and creates more bitter, envious, selfish, and unhappy individuals. It recruits them from the older population and attempts to manufacture them from the youth with it education system and media institutions. They don't want happy, satisfied, content Americans whose lives, humble or great are almost always gradually getting better in the long run. You can't get a revolutionary mob to seize absolute power of your population is generally pleased so the constant Democrat propaganda is that life is miserable here, despite most of the evidence of the alternatives. Democrats compare reality to a delusional Utopian fantasy, then are always bitter when reality is less than that.
Conservatives understand that life isn't perfect but with proper planning and reasonable and rational action and effort, by and large it can be made better with time, and it's much better than it would be governed by reckless spite and bitterness.
Modern Democrats and their Marxist ideology is an appeal to greed, envy, pride, sloth, and jealousy which lead to bitterness, anger, and hatred. It propagates exactly what we're seeing in civil society today from them. Add in 60 years of brainwashing in public schools that our founders were evil, capitalism is bad, minorities are being oppressed, government is the solution to all ills, and everything is a crisis and you start to see how we've become so polarized.
The reason it's become so apparent in the last ten years is that the right has finally started fighting back politically with Trump and in the arena of free speech with Musk and social media.
