For a time, I'd considered making a sig line that 'Democrats hate you and want you dead. Never, ever vote for a democrat.' But I didn't want to get in trouble for it. Nowadays, it just seems too obvious.

The movement/urge to suppress/crush dissent and 'unorthodox' thinking has long been a common one of the left/socialists/communists (heck, see Muenster circa 1535).

The internet just gives them new tools to do so, but these are not new ideas/urges.

The DemocraticParty was taken over by communists and socialists. They determined that was easier than getting enraged as a communist or socialist.

I had some family members who were West Texas Dems from the old days. What they believed/supported would be ultra-conservative these days.

At some point this changed, and it went from being a radical few, to gripping the party.

Democrats compare reality to a delusional Utopian fantasy, then are always bitter when reality is less than that.

Conservatives understand that life isn't perfect but with proper planning and reasonable and rational action and effort, by and large it can be made better with time, and it's much better than it would be governed by reckless spite and bitterness.

I don't disagree, but the wokeness really ramped up around 2012 or 2013. That's when you started seeing trans bathroom nonsense being pushed in places like Houston. And other stuff that the most die hard hippies would have scoffed at just years prior.
