Good grief, I don't GAF about soccer unless it's the world cup either, but I don't feel the need to proclaim its "gayness". It's been fun especially since the US is playing well, and it's been a pleasant un-politicized event, AND foreigners are starting to get the veil lifted from their eyes about America and Americans.

Besides, it's the dog days of summer sports-wise. Tune in and enjoy it.

It is so refreshing to see people sing the anthem, in the stands and most of the players.

I'm reminded of a story i read years ago where a man sang loudly at a ballgame and his son said he was embarrassed. The father replied, "I'm embarrassed that you don't sing."

In these years where do many people are not proud to be an American, it is great to see a stadium full of people who are.

I can read the scoreboard. I just didn't understand what was under review on our last apparent score. Commentators saying offsides? Which is hilarious to me with such a chaotic field.

Watch the games guys, doesn't happen as much anymore. Every time I watch soccer, I am reminded why I stopped watching it., so this World Cup has been a really pleasant surprise. Given that there's barely any sports worth watching right now take a stab at it. You might actually like it.

I mean, you had a bunch of Americans *in Seattle* singing the national anthem. Plus the higher, the ratings the more Megan Rapinoe gets pissed

I'll help the haters here...

As a sport, soccer doesn't make sense...feet and legs are for running, jumping and gaining leverage. Hands are for manipulating the ball. Soccer has it mostly backwards.

A lot of the movements are technically athletic, but awkward (eg, elbows up and out when controlling the ball).

However, given the rules as they are, it's a good game to watch, and I hear a fun game to play.

How does one coach soccer?

Other than teaching children and beginners, it's gotta be the easiest job on earth. "Kick the ball." "Run." "Run while kicking the ball." "When inbounding, throw the ball over your head." "You can use your head but not your hands." That's about it, as far as I can tell.

There are no plays. If there are, they get disrupted by the opposing players. Otherwise, it's the monotony of running from one end of the field to the other with very little scoring. Rhymes with boring.
