However, he's lately gotten really into golf and may quit playing soccer to play golf. Will be kind of a shame if he does but it's his life.

When he's older with a real job in the world he's going to get more deals and things done on a golf course than he ever would on a soccer field.

Golf is the absolute best and most important sport you can teach a child.

I have nothing against playing golf, if that's what you want/like to do, but I don't play golf and I'm doing just fine. I know many other very successful business people that never or rarely played golf. Could I have had other (better) opportunities if I was an avid golfer? I suppose that's a possibility.

Side note:

I was at Walmart in The Colony this morning to grab something before work and I entered behind 5-6 people wearing Messi jerseys. They kind of scattered after entering as if on a mission and I grabbed the two things I needed and saw a couple of them loading cases of Modelo into a cart from a pallet in the middle of the main aisle.

I told them if they wanted cold beer it was available behind the groceries and pointed towards the cold beer section with the signs/displays/etc. One guy asked if it was the same price and I said yes. He pointed to the same area and said "right there?" and I said yes. He hugged me and headed towards the back of the store.

I just thought that was kind of funny at 7:30 in the morning.

(and no, he didn't lift my wallet, keys, or phone during the conversation)

People who go out of their way to say how lame soccer is is very weird.
I think baseball is boring as hell but I make it a point to listen to nearly every Aggie baseball game. Because Aggies. So I'll also get excited about whatever sport team USA is completing in.

That said, when it comes to men's soccer "turning the corner" and becoming relevant on the world's stage, I'll believe it when I see it. I've been waiting since 1994.

Yeah, I don't get the allure for soccer, but there are hundreds of millions of fans that do get it so there must be something there.

That being said, I can fully understand why soccer fans just don't get the allure for American football. It's two vastly different sports and while one is non-stop action with low scores, there other is on-off action with higher scores.

But many people can agree that cricket is dumb.

The attitude on this thread puzzles me (not addressing you). Consider the USA first game, 4-1 win. In Football that is 28-7 win. Just because each score is different points, does not mean futbol is less exciting or has less scoring. It simply means each score has a different point value.

The other issue I have with this board is the hydration breaks. In football you get to sit on the bench and hydrate at every possession change. In futbol, it is a 45 minute non-stop game with no bench time so the hydration breaks make perfect sense to me.

Also, the complaint about injuries in futbol I find equally funny. Yes, they fall and act hurt, but, I find that no different than the defense in football faking an injury when playing a no-huddle offense.

I am not a futbol fan, per se, as I prefer college football. All the futbol hatred on this thread I find specious at best.
