Hi. My son applied out of state to TAMU undergraduate financial planning. Has any other out of state families received TAMU decisions yet? We've heard from every other school so far and this is so frustrating.

My son also applied to the financial planning program. We haven't heard anything from TAMU but he has heard from all other schools as well.

When did he submit the application?

First time to this thread. Was just talking to my wife about this. She has a co worker and their daughter has been trying get into A&M or tu and has already been turned down by tu and has not heard anything from A&M. Their daughter is all AP and honors, cheerleader, very involved. Most of her friends have been accepted by A&M, tu, ou, auburn, georgia, arkansas. They're praying that A&M will accept her. She's a great girl and very smart.
(we have a 8yr & 5yr old so we don't have to go through this nightmare yet).

We are out of state. My daughter heard today. Not the offer she was hoping for. It's a pathway with guaranteed admission after a year. We're working now to figure out what she will want to do. She's very sad.

She has scholarship offers to UTK's business school and to Belmont University. But her heart is set on A&M.

Is it System Admit or Blinn Team? Has she applied to Galveston? Galveston is the best option if you don't get Blinn or Gateway. Smaller campus, full on Aggie including better football tickets than CS. Small classes and more engaged profs for Freshman. You can simply change majors and go to College Station as fast as one Semester for some. Biggest negative is there isn't much to do, it's very laid back and not many student orgs compared to CS. Applications are still open as well.

Our son graduated from Galveston. He loved it. He was a marine biology major and never intended to move to CS. We are working on Galveston now.

Question for anyone who's had a kid transfer - is it easier to transfer in than get in as a freshman? I work at Vandy and it's so much easier to get in as a transfer than as a freshman.

My daughter finally heard from A&M and got PSA. It doesn't matter as she is going to UT but I've posted about our A&M frustration earlier. She was pissed and I told her to settle down (not the best response).

This made me laugh and unfortunately hit very close to home. Sometimes the best thing to say is nothing at all. Or at least that's what I've been told but haven't quite learned yet.

My son has a 100 average in Calc B/C and works through integration books and solves differential equations in his free time. t.u. just rejected him and told him he can apply again if he can make a B in college algebra at a sister campus. This is when you know that nobody even read your application.

A&M hasn't said anything yet.

We think the UHD Scholars Academy might be a good fit. We visited Galveston, but he would apparently finish their highest math course within a year, so he didn't like it. Oh well.

And you can't transfer to A&M in engineering from Galveston (no idea why anyone would want to).

It's no different than trying to change majors from anything else into Engineering if you were in CS and it isn't easy.. I know multiple kids from Galveston that transferred to A&M in Engineering. That said always talk to an advisor and have a plan.

What Aggie93 is discussing is the process of transferring from Galveston to the Main Campus in College Station. Technically, Galveston is a part of the College Station campus, so you're not "transferring" from one school to another, but instead just "Changing your Major."

Yes, I am aware of that. But because it is easier to get into engineering at Galveston, they don't let you start there in engineering and then transfer to College Station. I'm sure there have been exceptions, but it would be a zoo if they allowed that to happen. Anyway, Galveston is probably a better engineering program. At least I would rather hire people from there. They probably have met one of their professors, lol.

My son just heard -- very disappointed he got PSA. He feels that if he accepts he will have to totally start over and know no one in the 2nd year when he hopefully would go to College Station. Plus he's not sure if he could get into the Financial Planning at the Ag School. He's thinking of just going to Tech since they have the #1 Financial Planning Program in the country. Any thoughts? We're not from Texas, rather NYC.

My son is in the same situation. Got PSA but Financial Planning is not one of the offered majors. He was also accepted to Tech's Financial Planning program and given some scholarship money.

My advice is that if a kid knows what they want to do major-wise, always to go to where they can pursue that. Never choose school over major.

My Kid got PSA, I'm sending him to community college instead, none of the PSA majors are anything he would want to do.

I've gotten much better about remaining quiet in moments like this with lots of work. Unfortunately, she was acting like an entitled brat and that is something my wife and I don't tolerate. Typical t-sip behavior.

Does anyone know if you can adjust your offer from Blinn Team to Waitlist? I am not asking for those who were offered the option to pick between Team or Waitlist, for those offered Team only? Ex. With so many good students offered regular admission at 5+ schools, many will pick other schools and open spots. The counter argument being nobody gets off "waitilist" and why would you want to decrease your probability.

Our high school counselor guidance suggests so many more open spots after decision day due to abundant Common Ap applications/choices, trying to leverage most kids aren't too excited about a JUCO option regardless if it comes with coenroll benefits with increasing probability of regular admissions opening up (Non Business or Engineering specifically)
