So, if releasing Cooper, signing Tank allows you to keep Gregory, sign Kearse and maybe bring in Wagner, would you consider that a pretty good sequence?

I actually think this is pretty decent maneuvering by the front office. They gotta make some things happen but they've put themselves in a position to keep most of their key defensive players and make a couple of reasonable FA additions.

In fact, they prob will have enough room to go sign a solid OL in FA to add depth.

Definitely wouldn't be opposed to signing some depth at Tackle. With the inevitable LC trade looming, we're going to be pretty thin there. Hopefully they hit on Ball.

Broaddus was asked about Ball recently and he said he didn't have enough strength to be effective. Now, that was last year so maybe he was able to get stronger, but he does have great feet and movement skills for OT.

I'd give it an A rating. It would be an A+ if we didn't kill coopers trade value by telling everyone we were moving on & got a 3rd rounder in return for him.

We still have to make those signings though & honestly I don't think the front office will sign Wagner. I bet he gets over 14M a year which wouldn't work for us. Maybe instead we sign someone like James Daniels who can step in at LG so we don't go in the draft with a huge need on the OL?
Macarthur

Yeah, I think Wagner is prob a long shot.

I think they go OL w one of the first three picks regardless.

One thing I've loved about the front office the last few years is they've seemed to address most needs before the draft, allowing them take BPA in premium rounds. I'd bet we see some signings in the next few days to address some depth at obvious positions of need. Signing players like Gregory/ Wagner/ Daniels would go a long ways.

One thing is for sure. Its stupid for anyone to proclaim the offseason a disaster after 1 freaking day of free agency.

I'll admit I had no clue what they were doing at first, but I see and get it now.

Fixing the Oline is priority 1. Was our biggest and most consistent problem last year.

After that I think we need to get another solid LB. Parsons is possibly the best player on our team and we absolutely need LB depth to allow Quinn to use him all over the field. Could accomplish this via free agency or the draft.

But I see their vision now and I like it. With Quinn still here our defense could be even better and our offense can improve as well if we fix the o-line. I'm starting to drink the Kool-Aide again!

I remember I was really intrigued by this guy, but haven't heard much. He was def raw so a redshirt year was expected. Would be curious if the organization has any hope here....

Miles Jack just got released by the Jags. Would like to kick those tires.

I've read/listened to several sources talking about how the Cowboys don't do anything different than other teams when making it known they are open to trades. We just always see headlines when it's Cowboys related because they are always under the media microscope. There are usually a few wild/false internet rumors tagging along as well.

The reality is, if Cooper was some hot commodity, somebody would have out-bid Cleveland and given Dallas a 3rd or 4th rounder. Anybody that really wanted Cooper had the chance... turns out the market dictated he was only worth a 5th.

Gotta hand it to them, has been a really good couple of days here. I'm not crazy about the Schultz tag but I'm to understand that they gave him the non-exclusive tag (I think that's what it's called) so they can continue to negotiate and other teams can show interest.

I think Tank gets a lot of crap but he's been a very good guy for this organization...

I don't really mind the Schultz tag. At the end of the day he is Dak's security blanket and has a knack for getting open. Yea he's not some huge playmaker and he definitely needs to improve his blocking but he was a BIG part of the offense last season.

Also, looking at the numbers, it looks like Dallas kept Tank AND Gregory for the about the same $ as Philly spent on Reddick. That's pretty sweet.

Unless you're Jacksonville.

Schultz would of gotten PAID had he been available to other teams. I wouldn't mind signing him to a 4 year deal to keep someone Dak is comfortable with. It still wouldn't stop me from drafting another TE since we run a lot of 12 personnel
Macarthur
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Yes, they can work out a deal and lower that cap number and that would be fine. I'm still not all that crazy about paying a TE that can't block, but it is a passing league.

I think these signings have made me look at things a bit diff for the draft.

I was actually thinking they needed to look edge rusher earlier than most folks, but now that takes a back seat. They still need OL, LB & WR, but S now looks to be a bit less important, esp if they resign Kearse which it looks like that has a decent chance of happening. I will also be interested to see if they go CB fairly early, does that tell us something about how they feel regarding Joseph.

Tank has had every year of his contract guaranteed.

Win for both sides- as long as he performs at a high level.

I think Schultz was greatly aided by defenses having to cover Cooper, lamb, and Gallup or Wilson when he was on the field. I do think he's a decent enough TE, but would've rather us let him go and address it in the draft

Wow **** that guy if true. Choosing Denver over the team that stuck with you through everything? Especially if the deals were essentially the same.

You can still address it in the draft but it won't help you next year. TEs rarely produce as rookies.

I guess we have to shift our focus to von Miller and chandler jones. What a disappointment and honestly I don't know if we'll be willing to pay those 2.

Jones probably headed to Buffalo.

Von makes the most sense.

I was nervous about paying Gregory. The knee issues last year along with the two absolute bone head holding calls on him the playoff game stick in my mind. He's a great talent but man.
