Calm down. They will get who they want

I read this as Caserio really likes Stroud or Levis. I don't care for Stroud, but I wouldn't freak out if that is the pick. If they draft Will Levis, I might break everything in my house. Levis is trash.

I still think mcNairs should sell the team or bring in an experienced president and get out of the way.

Today leaves a bad taste in my mouth but, I can't blame Lovie for trying to win, or the players.

I'm expecting Lovie and staff to be fired either tonight or tomorrow, possibly Caserio too though you can keep him, he hasn't done enough, to me, to have a strong feeling either way.

Hopeful for a big draft and some decent free agent signings. Our division is crap.

This franchise will not move forward until Cal sells the team or Mrs. McNair pushes to sell the team. Cal's wife is more involved than Cal is.

Lovie will be fired.

Bryce/Stroud will be the pick despite new head coach.

Nick is walking on thin ice as well.

Bryce Young. Then Stroud. Never Levis. He sucks.

Therefore, Levis is probably who they'll end up with.
I know a lot about a little, and a little about a lot.

Yep. We have all seen thats the case since bob died. Hopefully that happens soon but just dont see the mcnairs selling the team

In regards to Nick why is he on thin ice? Not saying he is doing a great job but not like he has done horrible either

https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2023/01/08/report-nick-caserio-lovie-smith-or-both-to-be-fired-in-houston/

I'm not sure what I think of Caserio going forward. Part of me wonders if the fact that he isn't BOB gets him more slack than deserved. Stingley and Green have been disappointing picks, they can't mess up this draft at the top this time. I'm guessing Caserio gets another year but he has to nail the HC hire and this draft, period.

I don't blame Lovie or the players for trying to win, not a bit. We are disappointed as fans because we have a chance at landing a franchise changing QB, and a chance at losing that player. I don't know that Chicago will trade back. The big 3 players for this draft are Young, Anderson, and Carter. If they trade back further than the third pick they can lose out on the two best defensive prospects in the draft. They have a QB in Fields, I think they take Anderson or Carter and we still get our QB. Even if they trade with Indy at no 4 it's a risk in the event we actually like them better than the QBs. Also, Indy might not covet either of the top QBs in this draft enough to move up.

Do we know what pick Cleveland gets? They are one of six team at 7-10, so that would between 8 and 13.

The Texans are about to have their third head coach in three seasons. Caserio can't keep avoiding that.

Gong for 2 was the right call. Nobody wants to play OT in the season finale. And tying the Colts in both the opener & finale would have been too weird.

Re: Draft Position: If the #2 overall pick can't help you, then you're doing something wrong. No need to apologize for winning today.

Last 10 first overall picks…..

2022: Travon Walker
2021: Trevor Lawrence
2020: Joe Burrow
2019: Kyler Murray
2018: Baker Mayfield
2017: Myles Garrett
2016: Jared Goff
2015: Jameis Winston
2014: Jadeveon Clowney
2013: Eric Fisher

Since it's been noted that "There is not a difference between 1 and 2.", would you do us a favor and provide a list if the #2 picks for those same drafts for our (my?) review?

Seeing that the Texans won't get the qb they want, Jerrah is offering Dak, Zeke, and Tyson's Smith's knees for the 2nd pick.

Why did the team hire Culley and then Smith? There are up and coming coaches, just get one of them and promise 3-4 years to draft and develop a team. It's tough to watch these moves.

And whose idea was it to interview Josh McCown?

While I don't have such a list, I have to think that there are plenty of players who weren't drafted #1 overall that became stars.

Plus, with the Texans, the question is whether or not they can develop draftees properly anyway.

I dont believe in Caserio, but might as well give him an offseason with Easterby out of the way to make his own moves.

Even if they did let go of Caserio, there is method to the madness and I have no doubt the process to hire a new GM would be a cluster. At least Nick has made some ok moves.

Maybe I misread that but Lovie Smith is not an up and coming coach. He's your typical NFL retread. NFL loves these types but they're awful and never work out. Hell Culley isn't an up and comer either. He's a 40 year NFL vet who no one wants as a HC. He only got the job because literally no one else wanted it.

FWIW I think Nick should get another year possibly 2 if strides are made.

Up until now it's seems like he's been handcuffed by the simply trying to undo what BoB caused. Now he's finally gotten through that and start to make moves that he can/should be judged on.

Texans pick 2 and 12 in first round. Get the new coach hired asap and decide between Stroud and best defender available at pick 2. If Chicago keeps pick 1 they will draft Defense, so you can have either qb.

Maybe the new coach wants Derek Carr and you try to sign him and draft defense for both first rounders.

Make sure you draft another RB to challenge Pearce and a lot of best player available to pass up Indy and Tenn to challenge the Jags next year.

I would be drafting, Young then the TCU WR, then Achane with my first 3 picks if available.

22: Aidan Hutchinson decent rookie season. Just picked up his 8th sack
21: Zach Wilson bust
20: Chase Young good player but injury problem
19: Nick Bosa great player
18: Saquon Barkley great RB
17: Mitch Trubisky bust
16: Carson Wentz average starter
15: Marcus Mariota bust
14: Greg Robinson bust
13: Luke Joeckel bust

That list of QBs outside of Wentz is atrocious and that Wentz is the best out of them is not great.

I agree. Mostly but we definitely need a pass rusher. Desperately.

I have zero confidence in the Texans organization, but if the Bears trade their pick so say the Colts can get Young, Texans should draft the player that the Bears covet. Probably Anderson which the Texans could use as well. Maybe next year get the USC qb.

No, I agree with you. My preference would've been to hire someone like DeMeco Ryans last year.

Im looking for Ray Finkle.... and a clean pair of shorts. Im just a very big Finkle fan. This is my Graceland, sir.

Any Ohio State QB will be a bust.

If they can't get Young - get a pass rusher.

Stingley was a horrible pick so far. I hated that pick last year.

Should have just tanked the last game.
I know a lot about a little, and a little about a lot.

Stingley may turn out to be a good pick but we won't know until he gets out of Lovie's system.

That system has him playing away from his strengths.

Makes no sense to draft a guy who's good at ABC and ask him to do XYZ.

If I'm Lovie, I'm getting some of the best bottles of hooch that money can buy, flying my family to a nice beach, and posting the ever-living heck out of it. Lovie did today what every Johnny Paycheck, shafted worker, jelly-of-the-month club drone dreams about. He went out a winner and also got eternal scoreboard on his boss. I can't even imagine how glorious this must feel. He deserved to get fired for cause for winning a game, but they can't do a thing about it. Holy heck, that dude is a legend, and Davis Mills will get a '72 Dolphins-style Christmas card from Lovie for as long as he's still kicking. If you're a Texans fan, just respect Lovie. It's 100% on management. If they didn't want him to do this, they had every chance to fire him before the game.
94chem,
That, sir, was the greatest post in the history of TexAgs. I salute you. -- Dough

Wish the McNairs would sell the team and the new ownership group could find a way to buy the Oilers name back from the Titans.

I know it will never happen as long as the Adam's family still owns the Titans but one can dream.

Cal needs to go ahead and sell. As bad as this team was I'm actually sad to see Lovie go. Gosh this organization makes me so mad.
