I hope they can find someone better than Kingsberry. He's average. Can't ever remember ever watching an O of his where he out schemed anyone. And just gets worse as the season moves on instead of better. Get someone from the Reid coaching tree.

I don't mind Kingsbury as long as he takes the extra time being an OC to focus on evolving his scheme. If he plans on coaching at any point in the future he has to evolve. But he's got the perfect mindset for an OC, in that he's not a slave to his original game plan and is willing to just keep attacking a defensive weakness until the other team adjusts. It's one of the reason I liked him when A&M brought him on back in the day. He just needs to evolve his scheme. If DeMeco is confident he will, then he's a great hire, especially if we can pair him with guys that will bring new concepts to him.

this is a very good point.

Kingsbury's Arizona offenses got "solved" at the halfway point every year (or almost every year)....despite having a lot of pro bowl talent

No lie, we're being methodical, thorough, and smart on our decision making. And, agreed, it feels good and weird at the same time lol

Cue the draft day bombshell when we trade the #2 pick for DeAndre Hopkins

Are the Texans going to leave SF with any of their coaches besides Kyle Shanahan?

Agree that's still a huge concern. I've said it before, don't trade the pick. Take either Anderson or Young.

Ahh, makes sense why we moved now, Brian Johnson is going to be the Eagles new OC as the colts are hiring the current OC for their new HC.

Texans doing a great job so far. I'm impressed

Very likely Chicago is drafting will Anderson since trade downs aren't likely that great with this draft class.

Houston will either acquire Jimmy G or Lance from SF if either is the guy in Ryan's and Slowacks opinion. Assuming not then I think Bryce Young is probably our new qb. Despite his size, he has the best chance of the top
4 Qbs to be successful in the NFL. If they do acquire a SF QB, they will likely pick defense with both first round picks.

Caserio does like to trade down and sometimes back up
Starting about round 3. I think that is likely again. Would love to see achane on the Texans but there are
Some veterans who they may prefer.

Everything is moving in the right direction so far.

I think Slowik was probably involved with some other negotiations. Seems like they brought in Kilff for leverage.

Actually good moves wth

Yeah this is actually quite impressive.

Every one of these guys are names that have been discussed as well respected quality up and comers around coaching circles recently.

DeMeco putting together a great staff, I don't know why I'm surprised. We've been pre-conditioned to wait for the other shoe to drop. It just feels like they are taking the steps to turn the corner. Gives me optimism for the first time in a long time.

Really happy with Slowik and the direction of the staff, but man I like the Philly offense too. Would really like to get someone from that staff (And as I type this, Hurts just drops the ball).

For sure, but they also do a great job scheming as well. They have so many ways to beat you.

38-35 was the final score in the Super Bowl with both QB's playing great.

Texans/DeMeco have to get the offense up to speed

those QB's did account for 9 Super Bowl titles though

and I think 10 total appearances

John elway and Eli Manning were drafted and traded before they every played a down. Both were top 3 and if you add their 4 Super Bowl wins to the 9 wins by the other 3 guys thats 13/57 that's 23% of all super bowls. Besides Brady, how many 6th round QBs have won the big game? Why not just draft your qb in round 6 and get Brady. That should work

You point that top 3 picks don't always pan out is certainly true. But if drafting a qb in the top 3 gives you a 23% chance to win the Super Bowl, seems worth it. Statistics.

Watching the game and several things stuck out at me specifically on the offensive not, not just the need for a competent QB.

1) Strong offensive line, both teams did an incredible job protecting their QB during the most important game of the season, also necessary to have any run game.
2) Weapons, each team had a minimum of 3 competent WR's and 2 competent RB's.
3) Offensive variety/detail, each defense was kept on their toes all game, guys were getting open, catching almost every ball they had the opportunity to do so. Everyone was doing their jobs.
4) They were complete, I don't think I could say either side was deficient in any specific aspects, at least none that jumped out at me. Maybe Philly's run game was diminished during the game, but that I attribute to a solid KC game plan.
5) You can be successful at the highest level with a young HC & coordinators like Philly was, or with highly experienced ones like KC.
6) You have to draft well and be smart/active in free agency. The players they drafted and brought in fit what they wanted to be.
7) There's no doubt the teams should have been there, it was no accident they found themselves in the position where they were at the end of the season. They were designed to be what they became.

I'm sure none of this is newsworthy but it just illustrates to me we have a long way to go, but also that it's not a secret sauce that leads to a team that ends up in the SB. These teams make total sense to me.

DeMeco, Slowik, and Caserio need to figure out this offseason if there's any chance at Mills being successful with a better supporting cast than what he's been given. To me that's the biggest question this offseason given that I don't know anyone could be successful with our roster last season. Where would Houston have ended up this season with Mahomes or Hurts alone with the exact same group that Mills had around him?

The NFL draft is in 73 days.

But it doesnt. It gives those successful 5 qbs only a 23% shot.

Add in all the others that have been taken top 3 and their Super Bowl wins and that number drastically drops to a less than significant chance of winning.

I think great O lines are way more statistically important to winning a Super Bowl.
