Sources: The #Texans are expected to hire #AZCardinals DL coach Matt Burke as their new defensive coordinator on DeMeco Ryans’ staff. The former #Dolphins DC, Burke is the first big hire for Ryans in Houston. pic.twitter.com/tMBZvIInmm

Matt Burke brings almost 20 years of NFL coaching experience on the defensive side of the ball, two seasons worth of experience as a DC, and has seen a variety of schemes over his 7 different stops.

He'll be a good asset for installing DeMeco Ryans' defense #WeAreTexans
100% agree, but in retrospect it goes back to last year when they got rid of Easterby. I legitimately believe that move was the indication they decided to turn the franchise around. It's not just about getting good people like DeMeco in the building, it's also about getting the negative influences out. The fact so many past and present players showed up to his press conference shows the we finally have potentially the right guy.The Porkchop Express said:
It is truly bizarre watching the Texans make one smart move after another. I'm not sure if this is setting me up for Draft Day jubilation or devastation, but for the first time since the first quarter of that playoff game with the Chiefs, it's exciting to be a fan.

Burke seems like a good hire, although I wasn't particularly worried about the defense. I'm sure DeMeco will have the defense playing well, assuming that Caserio gives him talent to work with.
It seemed like reading between the lines that Slowik was going to be the OC. Has that stalled?
How could we interview Johnson for a position he already has for another team? Teams can block lateral move interviews, they can't stop interviews for promotions. Also Johnson withdrew his name from HC contention earlier because he wants to stay in Detroit.Ryan34 said:Snake Jazz said:

It's possible that we are waiting on the opportunity to interview Brian Johnson from Philly. Steichen doesn't seem to be in the running for Arizona, and rumor is that Irsay wants to stick with Jeff Saturday. If Steichen is stuck in Philly for another year, then Johnson probably gets a promotion elsewhere.
I hope that's the case anyways. I'd like is to see Johnson get an interview at least. Houston native, worked with Dak at Miss State, Trask at UF, and now Hurts in Philly. Plus recruited and coached Richardson for a year as well. I'm more partial to Philly's offense than SF too.

My bad, I completely misread that.Ryan34 said:Max Power said:How could we interview Johnson for a position he already has for another team? Brian Johnson is Philly's QB coach. Ben Johnson is in Detroit.
Instant street cred, I like it.Ryan34 said:
This is also Brian Johnson.
Per sources, former Cardinals coach Kliff Kingsbury is in Houston today, speaking to the Texans about a job on DeMeco Ryans’ coaching staff.

#Texans are in discussions with Kliff Kingsbury, per a league source

Are you wanting co-oc with a vetern, or with a young up and comer?bilbobag said:
Not a popular opinion but I would rather see a Kliff as Qb coach and maybe even with a co-Oc tag.

When he was in 8th grade, QB Bryce Young camped at Texas Tech and head coach Kliff Kingsbury offered him on the spot. It was Young's first scholarship offer.#Texans https://t.co/9XpZQymddA

Good news is that DeMeco should be able to help Kingsbury understand exactly where his offense is predictable, able to be attacked, and needs to be fixed.bilbobag said:
Seems to be for OC job. My first question would be how do you plan to be less predictable and will you move your WR's around?
He became way too predictable

. So no place to go but up Similarly, there must be some pretty strong respect from DeMeco for what Kliff is doing, because he has seen plenty of it.IrishAg said:Good news is that DeMeco should be able to help Kingsbury understand exactly where his offense is predictable, able to be attacked, and needs to be fixed.bilbobag said:
