Names I am hearing in addition to Chip Kelly and Jerrod
Johnson are Klint Kubiak, Saints OC and Gary Kubiak, his dad.

Kelly's offense at Ohio State seemed to fit the Texans personnel. Either or both Kubiaks coaching CJ with some more WR and Oline draftees might be pretty good.

I think this hire happens pretty fast

Just hope they can keep JJ for continuity..

I did some research.
I only found one podcast where he said what he said. That was on June 1, 2024, when he was on the "Mlllion Dollaz WOrth of Game" podcast

After hearing the criticism Stroud recanted his statement TWO DAYS later, saying on Instagram =- according to CBS Sports's Bryan DeArdo,

""In his updated list (which he posted on his Instagram account), Stroud kept the top-three quarterbacks the same, but gave the No. 4 spot to Josh Allen and moved Prescott to the fifth and final spot while omitting Hurts," DeArdo noted. "Stroud added that he feels Joe Burrow is also among the NFL's top 5 quarterbacks. Burrow, though, missed nearly half of the 2023 season with an injury, which was surely the reason why he was left off of Stroud's list."

So, unless I'm missing something, he didn't repeat it over and over, he said it once on a podcast, got criticized for it, and clarified his opinion 2 days later. Every other mention of it online just references the same podcast.

Doesn't seem like that big of a deal.

It's also important to remember that Slowik wasn't DeMeco's first choice the first time around.

I don't recall, who were the initial OC targets for DeMeco?

What a difference a year makes. This time last year we were all worried about Slowik getting a HC job and now we are generally in agreement that he needed to be fired.

True! We all thought he would grow in year 2 not regress. We were wrong.

Idk if they released a list like they did HC. But the point is that DeMeco was a brand new first time HC inheriting the worse performing team in the league (despite Chicago edging out for the #1 seed). There wasn't a lot of security in signing up w DeMeco nor do you typically have the time to go through an exhaustive list.

I think there will be much more interest coming to DeMeco this time. It's not a given, though, Lions and Bucs are interesting positions as well.

I doubt we'd hire him as the OC since they struggled the running the ball in his offense. But this might be a scouting interview since the one thing Syracuse did extreme well was getting the ball out quickly, using the middle of the field, and then setting up the defense for big plays. Thats something this offense needed desperately this year. No matter who we hire, getting people who understand designing the passing game around that will be critical.

some of that was the bump from the 4th place schedule to 1st place schedule...and drawing the NFC North this year

remember the Texans played a tomato can schedule in 2023 -- only 4 regular season games of 17 vs. playoff teams

the Texans played the:

AFC #1 seed
AFC #5 seed
AFC #7 seed
NFC #4 seed

it was a charmin soft schedule that masked deficiencies which showed up in 2024

and of course...DeMeco is a defensive-minded coach

so it's not a surprise that he's struggling on the offensive side of the ball

I think it's a bit of injury, but I think he wants to focus on the offseason too.

So Texans interview Bucs QB coach Thad Lewis for the OC spot.

Hope these names get a little bit better because the two candidates who've interviewed so far seem to be pretty meh.

Like not that much of a step up from Slowik kinda meh.
