You don't have to pay anyone. After each performance you grade based on protecting of NFL assets. Mahomes + Swift + Kelce is $$$. It would be insane to think the 50-50 calls wouldn't go there way.

If they did pay the refs this would be how.

This is how insurers pays their reviewers to deny claims. They usually can't specifically force them to deny claims or set targets but if you deny a bunch and get a bonus for some kind of secondary metric then you're motivated.

Hopefully the Boomer refs are having a nice breakfast courtesy of the NFL this morning and are visualizing the calls they need to make to destroy all the dreams of philthy fans around the world.

Didn't expect it to start on the first series. Epic bad call. Wasn't called the entire regular season. Almost as bad as Texas Tech - UH.
94chem,
That, sir, was the greatest post in the history of TexAgs. I salute you. -- Dough

Today the Eagles played better and got the benefit on calls. When you're on top this happens.

and kind of the bottomline...

the Chiefs' talent does not match a 17-2 record (regular season + playoffs)

especially as compared to their 16-3 Super Bowl opponent with Saquon, A.J. Brown, et al
so where were we on this thread?

the talent never matched the record

the NFL wanted the Chiefs in the Super Bowl

the NFL didn't care if they won or lost

just needed KC to get there

Why did they "need" the chiefs to get there?

Not sure why this is so difficult for some to understand.

saw somewhere the NFL is up 960 million since the Swifties found out they were dating, which makes the KC Ref alignment make sense, 960m can make an honest man crooked. That's a lot of money.

Also listening to sports TV/radio this morning it so refreshing seeing nearly ALL of the larger talking heads "coming out" about how propped up KC was by timely fortuitous calls.

The eye test said the league was influencing games, now A TON of people are calling a spade a spade.

Okay but if the league is influencing games, how is it being done? I've yet to see anyone offer a rational explanation of how the NFL has persuaded numerous refs to help the Chiefs with calls or what's in it for the refs.

I have. So how are they convincing refs to support the Chiefs? What's the incentive for the Refs?

the super bowl does not need a "ratings bump"

I would not be surprised to see the ratings actually down from Chiefs fatigue

so what is the number of additional viewers a chiefs super bowl gets versus bills or ravens from the swifties?

1 million? 10 million?

I think its been shown that the chiefs do benefit from an unusual number of calls. so I am not saying the refs haven't helped them.

I am questioning this theory that the NFL needs the chiefs in the super bowl. they drew 114mm viewers before swift showed up

It's not just a ratings bump when it comes to this Taylor Swift stuff.

My girls (5 and 8) constantly ask me if the Chiefs are playing this week and can they watch the Chiefs. Last night while watching with their cousins and some other friends all the girls were screaming every time Kelce came on the screen. Hell one of the girls told us her lucky number was 87. These girls couldn't name one other NFL player besides Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes.

But because Taylor dates a Chief they know their names and jersey numbers. My 8 year was crying last night because the Chiefs lost. They're locked in.

The more screen time this team gets the more they're hooking young fans that they hope to remain fans for a long time. They're milking this for everything they can and it's not just for a rating bump for a couple games. They're playing the long game.

I don't know the answer, but the easy assumption is who pays the refs salaries
