Fellow Nerds... just like the GM release of iOS5, if you can locate the ipsw for your device for iOS6, you can download it and install it on a non developer phone.
Here's a site that I found that lists out ipsw locations for each device. I downloaded and installed the iPhone 4S ipsw this evening, and it worked perfectly.

If you haven't manually restored your phone before - it's pretty easy... download the file, then plug in your phone and back it up. Once it's backed up, press and hold the Option key (on a Mac, I think it's ALT on a PC?) and click the Restore button. That will allow you to browse to the ipsw and install it.
