Might have to invest...I'm dust and rare candy poor from investing in Giratina tho. What charged move are you running?

I'm at rank 8 too. 9 feels very distant. 10 feels virtually impossible.

I don't see them that often, but they are a pain. That Icy Wind move is rough to deal with. I wish I had some fire pokemon to use in Ultra, I'd love to have a Charizard. My wife started using Magnetzone, which wouldn't be so bad against it I guess.

It's also impressive to me when I see an Articuno in Ultra, that took some dedication to get it up there.

I hatched 2 Gible's today.

Amazing luck! I'm getting very close to having a Garchomp.

I can handle Aticuno. I still have nothing for Giratina. I throw a Rhyperior out there to take blows and knock it down to near zero. Then I have to hope my remaining two can beat the remaining Giratina and whatever they have left. I am about 50/50 vs. a set with Giratina and about 70/30 vs. sets w/o Giratina.

My biggest complaint is that I am just plain sick of seeing him!

I wish there was a way to categorize trainers by their levels. I am only lv28, and have been playing for about 6 months. Therefore, I just plain don't have the mon that others have.

Any fairy type? Another Giratina? Charizard with dragon moves? Aggron with stone dragon/rock moves? A-Ninetails?

What he said!! Alolan Muk is also a great answer and he is available in raids right now...so is Snorlax with Lick, I'd assume you have a few Snorlax. I do understand that it is difficult being at that level...my sister is somewhere between 25-30 and has a tough time with the legendaries.

Alolan Muk ruins my matchups. He's a great counter to Giratina & Togekiss.

Question, what does Alolan mean? I could look it up but will ask here for conversation? I have a few Alolan Gravelers. Does it simply look different and add some other moves? For example, the Alolan Graveler has an electric move set.

About 3-4 years ago Pokemon introduced regional variants. Alola is the Pokemon region based on Hawaii. Its "Gen 7" and the 3DS games Sun, Moon, Ultra Sun, & Ultra Moon. Basically takes previous Pokemon and gives them a new typing and look. They did more in Gen 8 (Sword & Shield) with Mr Mime, Corsola, the Zigzagoon line, Weezing, Farfetch, Slowpoke, Meowth, and the Ponyta line.

Is anyone having the issue where opponents are firing off consecutive charge moves? Like one charge move immediately followed by another charge move? I'm assuming it's some type of lag?
ABATTBQ11

You can over charge and drop them back to back, though sometimes with lag you get hit multiple times impossibly fast.

Sludge wave on swampert can be surprisingly effective. I've gotten more than one togekiss and clefable with it.

Literally every single match. If my opponent switches Pokemon (which happens in 99% of matches), they get an instant charge move too. This glitch is responsible for at least 90% of my losses.

Also I think they either buffed Giratina or nerfed Fairy moves because all of a sudden my Clefable can't do any sort of damage.

Giratina made Ultra not fun! I don't even want to play anymore due to seeing that punk in every single battle. They need to put a limit to playtime for each mon. Can't use the same mon in back-to-back 5 match sets!

I started out at about 60% win ratio. Lately, I have been getting my butt handed to me!

Question re: subbing for those who are smarter at this than me:

I usually lead with Arcanine, have Snorlax second, and keep my Clefable in the three hole. It seems like my opponents lead off with Giratina fairly often. I'd love to get my Clefable in there to hammer him, but I know as soon as I do that, they'll sub in someone else, and it'll be useless. So I usually either pound away with Arcanine, or sub in Snorlax to either take some hits or see if they'll swap someone else in (leaving my Clefable for Giratina later), but by the time Snorlax wears him down, it's almost senseless to put in Clefable.

So...how do y'all deal with situations like this, in terms of swapping?
Farmer1906
How long do you want to ignore this user?

I lead with Girantina so what gives me the most trouble is when I see a fairy or steel. If I were you then I would lead with Clefable. Just know that if they're not leading Girantina then you're blowing your counter. If they switch, then you do as well. You get the benefit of knowing who they switched to so you can counter or at lead be neutral.

I think one of the downsides to how PvP works is if your lead is countered or not effective against their lead then you start the match in a real bad spot. If you swap, they can swap again to counter you (potentially even worse).

You can mitigate this, in theory, several ways:
-Lead with a pokemon that has just a few weaknesses, like Steel.
-Lead with a pokemon that can build up charge moves quickly that can hit a diverse set of weaknesses, forcing the opponent to shield.

But really there's only so much you can do, it really just comes down to chance in my opinion.

Thanks. Yeah, I've resisted leading with him because I don't want to blow that counter in case he has Giratina in the back. Then I'm hosed. But I'll give that a shot next time.

It frustrates me so much that attacks that lower your attack or defense still punish you statistically when you use a shield. That makes 0 sense to me.

My tactic is to try to have as much defensive coverage in my lead as I can, while still dealing some damage. My Lapras has been doing well for that; even if my opponent brings a grass type, at least I'm using ice moves. It's still not perfect, but nothing is.

The idea for me is that I never, ever want to switch it out. That just lets my opponent switch with a better counter, if they have one, which is usually the case.

Second priority is to have my lead last longer than opponent's lead. If I can do that, then when I put into my #2, if they switch and my #3 is a good counter for that switch, then they're screwed.

Agreed. Giratina is so damn tanky that even some counters won't be able to beat it. I only switch if they do or I know I am going to get KO'd quickly. And when I do I try to time it right to switch right before a charge move. So their ice move is not effective vs my water type so I don't have to use a shield and they have to recharge.

Tough freaking day. 1-4, 2-3, 4-1, 3-2, and 0-5. Can't remember the last time I've gone 0-5. Master league is only gonna get worse for me.

What are yall going to run for Master?

Last time I did Kyogre, Metagross, & Tyranitar. My problem is I don't have the candy or dust to get anyone 2 moves. I do have a fairly high Gyrados with multiple, but he didn't work out well last time.

Last time I did Swampret, Gyarados, and Melmetal. Probably going to try that again

How many best buddy Pokemon do y'all have? I'm curious. I saw some guy on reddit talking about swapping out Pokemon every day to advance the levels on multiple at a time and that just feels waaaaaay too tedious to me.
