Lmao. I knew what was coming....except I really didnt.

I played the original D1 and D2, probably stopped around 2004. On an impulse I bought D2R on Blizzard's black Friday sale last year. Been slowly working my way through with basically a zealot. Fought my first Diablo clone a few weeks ago completely randomly, that was a funny WTF moment.

I'm running Lawbringer, which was a gamechanger in hell. Just happed to have the runes and a base, after putting too much blood into the blood moor, gave it a go. Went from feeling like Loki in the void to just screaming Leeroy Jenkins and strutting around like Coner McGregor.

I'm currently at lvl 82, pretty happy with my gear except for my armor. Looking at Fortitude for armor. I'm already max resist without armor, so the 300% damage looks good. I have a +3 to combat skills+teleport amulet, so don't really care to have free teleport.

Anyone have suggestions with other zealot gear to look at?

I've never done trading, any have advice best approach to trading for runes? I have an online character, but have only played single player.

Diablo2.io is my go to for trading when I'm active. The website is an awesome wealth of information too.

Always love seeing posts like this, Diablo 2 is my favorite game of all time and I'm so thankful we got such an awesome remaster from Vicarious Visions before ActiBlizzard gobbled them up.

I haven't really played zeal beyond normal in a long time, but check out the maxroll zealot guide. The gear section should have a bunch of different suggestions for each slot from budget to bis. It should also have a breakpoint section to help you piece together gear to hit whatever breakpoints are important.

I dont trade, but a pretty easy place to start is cubing pgems, particularly amethyst. People use a ton to reroll grand charms and craft caster ammys. Also ral.

Hmm, im not sure if I have a favorite per say. It's clich but I probably spend most of my time on a blizz sorc because it's so easy to get up and farming strong, and especially now with a cold sunder it opens up more options for a single element build.

For ages my goto ladder starter was a fishymancer and farming the pits. A little slow and some would say boring but basically zero hard gear requirements so you could load him up with topazes to mf.
Lightning fury zon is fun to watch cows and other large packs melt.
I did a singer barb offline not too long ago. That was pretty cool. A one trick pony and a little slow on bosses but got through hell baal nice and safe, good build to dip a toe into hardcore if so inclined.
I want to try a mosaic assassin with all the pretty colors but I haven't had a Gul drop since it came out.

Thanks, I have a few things on the list. Ravenfrost and Dwarf Star Rings stand out. I have a Tal Rasha mask, but have it on my merc. I just can't wear it, call it vanity, haha. Have usually use a Steelskull Casque.

Are you playing on ladder with the assassin? I actually just had a Gul drop, but looks like Mosaic is ladder only. I know you said you dont trade, just thought the timing was uncanny.

I cannot believe this never got a meaningful update.

I love d2 but it has been the same thing for decades and honestly I hate the concept of high runes and immunities. I have played this patch for I guess 20 years and never had much luck on runes. I miss the earlier patches and wish they would revamp uniques, runeword importance, balance, and immunities/resistances.

I appreciate the offer but no, this ladder is the first one I haven't played in a while. I have been playing offline. I'll probably give the next season a go though.

It's now on Steam too. $40 to grab the game plus Reign of the Warlock. I'll be paying the extra $15 because I'm a sucker and this is my favorite game of all time… finally officially Steam integrated.

They could have gotten me to pay $50 to be able to stack runes and gems, what a massive QoL upgrade.

However they need to increase the drops of the High Runes.... I am not able to stay in the basement and grind to days on end just to get a VEX.

Need to fix high runes OR they really need to change up the classes so you don't need god runes to play them. If they are adding a new class I have no idea why they wouldn't revamp some skills. They have already ruined the game from a purist perspective so freaking change crap that has needed to be changed for 25 years.

There's more changes coming including nerfing OP items like Mosaic and also bringing underpowered items up to speed.

Played around with the new stackable inventory while cleaning up some of my old mules. Pretty awesome. Then hopped on my level 93 Throw Barb and on my first run through terrorized Travincal found a Lo rune haha. Good to be back.

So were you able to link an old blizzard account to the steam version? I think I'll get the steam version as well. Not that it really matters because most of the fun for me is starting over anyway.

Yep, super easy to do. What I did was uninstalled D2R to be safe, and then uninstalled the Battle.net launcher (man that felt good). Then I bought D2R on Steam and re-installed it there. Once I launched it, it asked me to connect to my Battle.net account, gave me a like 6 digit code or something to punch in on Battle.net once I logged into my account there.

I don't know if uninstalling D2R was necessary, but I figured let's start fresh. I do not have any single player characters though just FYI, I'm sure those would be easy to move over to Steam anyways.

I spent like 2 hours reorganizing mules and moving runes/keys/gems over to the new stackable stash. I deleted 7 full mule characters, felt great to clean up the character list.

Any reason to play seasons anymore? Locked new rune words etc?

Don't hold me to this but I don't think anything is gated behind ladder, like ladder only Runewords for this season. I think all the new RotW content is the same non-ladder and ladder but I could be wrong on that. If I'm right, then the only reason would be for a fresh economy.
