I just bought the legendary bundle since it was only $5, but I don't know how soon I will get to it since I'm playing through Crimson Desert right now and taking it slow (really enjoying it).

For the life of me, I simply cannot understand why one would do this. You've done a complete play through of the series 13 times?!

Pretty sure I played the Mass Effect Trilogy once every 18 month. Also my favorite series.

There just haven't been that many games recently that reach the same heights for me. Same goes for Uncharted and Tomb Raider

Incredible games. I just have zero desire to click through all of the same dialog again. Just seems utterly pointless but that's just my opinion; my brain can't process the desire to do that. Every time I see someone post about doing their double digit playthrough of a game it just short circuits my brain. To each his own.

I actually powered up Skyrim not too long ago to play through that again 10 years after I did my lone playthrough, but that was because I wanted to play it with all of the mods that have since been built for it. However, in typical Bethesda fashion the game was so utterly unstable with mods that I abandoned it after a couple of hours. Even after consulting multiple online sites discussing proper order of mods, etc.

To be fair, I've probably only beaten ME3 7 times. (edit: but I did get 400+ hours in multiplayer, which was fantastic)

ME1 I probably played 6 or 7 times before 2 even came out. I did my first run, then a renegade run, then a pure paragon run, then a straight evil renegade run… that kind of thing. Try all the classes, get all the achievements. You can beat ME1 in like 15 hours if you're speed reading and skipping side quests.

ME2 is my favorite game of all time, so same kind of thing. All classes, keeping a squad mate along on every mission to get all their dialogue, etc. DLC would come out and it'd give me an excuse to play again. I probably beat it 3 times in a row when it first came out.

Also, being a poor college student, it's not like I had unlimited options!

I tried a couple times in the past to start the first one but stopped since at the beginning idk why just didn't click with me early. Gonna push through especially since I know the second one is extremely highly regarded. Also I love how the guy who voiced The Arbiter is in it.

I played ME2 first and loved it. Tried to go back to 1 and just couldn't get into it, I'm not sure if all of the improvements in 2 must made 1 feel outdated but I could never get into it.

It is an excellent series though, highly recommend.

I think part of it is I really enjoy the story and can beat the game in 15-25 hours while doing most everything.

Games like Skyrim (which I love) that are so massive that playthrough takes 80+ hours minimum I can't do that for.

I used to replay the AC games back in the day before the new one would come out, but then they went massive open world and thats just no longer feasible. Games got so big and bloated that it really killed replayability for a lot of them

I don't think I could do that which is likely a reflection of my ****ty gaming skills.

Yup! I think Skyrim and Black Flag were the two games that really showed me how easily distracted I can become in games.

In Skyrim I'd be on my horse headed to a quest and darned if I didn't stop to explore 2 or 3 caves along the way.

Same with Black Flag... dang Ubisoft and their icons... guess I gotta stop at this small island and see what's up!

But I suppose that's also a sign of a good game when you are perfectly content to just explore the world. Cyberpunk (post patches) is like this.

I'm a completionist until I'm not. At some point, I hit my limit and throw in the towel but I have always good intentions.

I have so many quests in Fallout 76 right now that I've had to turn most of them off until I can even process it. There are Main, Side, Daily, Ally, Miscellaneous, Enclave (not seven sure what this is), and random Events that are usually time based and have big rewards. And I keep running across new places on top of those. I've started ignoring the Daily quests because they are mostly the same fetch quest over and over.

RDR2 is the epitome of this for me. I could live in Chapter 2 or 3 for eternity.

This is how I typically am as well.

Currently enjoying and have the completionist mindset with Crimson Desert. I did the same with BG3, Cyberpunk, RDR2, Elden Ring, and Witcher 3.

Typically that is what adds a game to my "favorite games" list. Others (like Death Stranding or Expedition 33) are really good but don't make me want to do all of the side quests.

Gold Standard Fetch game but I loved it. But agree with you...I stopped trying to max every outpost at some point because I was ready to finish the main storyline.

On PTO this week and installed Morrowind (the GOAT imo) with OpenMW modded with the Total Overhaul pack.

It's beautiful and I'm having great flashbacks to my misbegotten youth.

Oh ****? Tell me more! What does this mod do?

I tried revisiting a few years back and couldn't get over the hump, but that's not uncommon: I probably had 20 failed characters and 1 that beat the game.

I think the main shock for me was whiffing on 80% of my swings.

Start here:

OpenMW

Then add mods with Nexus Mods. You'll definitely want Better Balanced Combat to fix the whiffs.

Full Modlists and installation instructions can be found here. I installed the Total Overhaul pack. If you do this I strongly recommend paying the $9 or whatever for a month on NexusMods Premium. Installing one of these packs of hundreds of mods manually would be...not fun. Bonus is that for the 30 days you can fully mod Skyrim, Fallout 3/4/NV, etc quickly and easily.

Once I got it up and running I'm having a blast again. Nobody is going to confuse it with fully modded Skyrim (although Skywind is coming soon!), but for those of us who played it back in the day it's well worth the effort.

If I can help don't hesitate to ask.

Related but separate, are you able to get modded Skyrim to work? I've tried multiple times playing with mods and tried multiple different mod loading orders suggested on the web that will work and it simply won't play longer than 5-10 minutes without crashing due to mods.

My copy of skyrim is just modded with Gate to Sovngarde. I've had no stability issues on an older midrange machine:

AMD 7600X3D
32 GB Corsair DDR5-6000 CAS36
Nvidia 4070 Super 12GB

It adds quite a bit without losing the "vanilla feel," it's well maintained and as I said, generally stable. Again, I'd strongly recommend Nexus Premium. It's worth the few dollars for a month of access.

Ahh... modding Elder Scrolls games. The 5-6 hour long process of researching and loading all the mods that look great. Then play the game for a coupe of hours and never come back to it.

Been there, done that... many times.

Yes, and for me it was playing the game for a couple of hours and having it crash out about 20 times during that couple of hours causing me to rage quit.

It's a LOT easier now than it was even a couple of years ago.

My simple Skyrim mod pack is over 1K mods that are tested and tweaked to work together, and placed in the load order automatically. Took less than 30 mins to have Gates of Sovngarde up and running.

Morrowind is admittedly more complex (it's older than many who post here), but OpenMW and enhanced vanilla should be a 20 minute install. Total Overhaul took 3ish hours but I've already got 20 hours into it. Easily worth it to someone who played Arena and Daggerfall when they were new.

Loading a group indivdual mods is a recipe for frustration. You don't really know if they're maintained, you don't know how or if they'll work together, and you definitely don't know the proper load order.

Use a mod pack maintained by a group of modding dorks.

Thanks. That looks awesome. One thing I failed to mention...I was modding using Xbox which is probably the issue. I don't own Skyrim on PC but I might get it to play again using this mod.

Prime Day deal, just got Metroid Prime 4 for $30 (Switch 1) and will upgrade to 2 for $10. Cheaper than buying it for 2.

Currently playing the FF7 remake for the first time, then Rebirth soon after in preparation for part 3.
