Rock port has gotten 15" in two days. Port Lavaca is getting hammered. Victoria has had 7" since Saturday. They are forecasting another 3-10" by Friday. Milo crop is about to be lost. Corn is ready to harvest but might lose that. Cotton for once probably be ok for a bit

A little. I suspect a bunch will sprout in the head now.

We haven't seen the heavy stuff in Calallen that Rockport got until the last 24 hours. 2 inches yesterday, 4 last night.

I found crawfish in my pool in Portland yesterday. I've had frogs, snakes, dillos, and turtles, but the crawfish were a first.

Yep, i'ts been brutal. Rained every day this month. South of me has gotten it way worse.

Trees down all over my deer lease, simply because the ground is so saturated it doesn't take a whole lot of wind to simply blow them over. I have a sizeable one that fell over in my feeder pen, but I can't even really get to it to cut it up right now because of how wet it is.

And more rain coming today and possibly tomorrow.

I don't think the bulk of the milo crop is "lost". As of this morning our growers were looking at a potential 20-25% yield reduction from sprouting on most of the mid coast acres. There is more to sprouting than a lot of rain. If you have periods of sunshine mixed it the damage is reduced.

Factor in growers have the potential to make 2-2.5x's the previous years value it's still a winning position. But the next few days will decide that.

Additionally there is a lot of later sorghum out there that is not as prone to sprouting as the earlier stuff. Much of the sorghum hadn't been harvested because it was late planted after the freeze.

Dang. I feel for all you coastal guys. All I've been hearing on the news was the "horrendous" storm that went into
Florida, Georgia when the real story in Texas. Typical media focus on east coast.

Send some of that up to the hill country. I haven't had any measurable rain since maybe April and even then it wasn't much. It's gonna take a heck of a fall to even get us close to average.

Just to make sure I understand you..

50" of rainfall this year?
or
50" of rainfall in the last 10 weeks?

The latter seems almost unbelievable if that is correct!!

50 in the last 10 weeks.its been an incredibly wet year.

I've had 30 in the last 10.and we average 32 for the year. With the exception of 2 hot dry weeks in June, it's been non stop rain.

I thought it was 8 weeks, but regardless yes 50+" since May 10. We were really dry going into May so our total rainfall is probably only another 5" over that time frame. We had 2 semi decent weeks in June.

Another .25". That makes us 13" since Saturday. We only had 16" during Harvey.

Neither extreme is good for sure. From a farming standpoint Id MUCH rather farm in a drought than what we've had since 2015.

I feel this may be partly my fault; when I got married it stopped raining for years, and now that I'm divorced it hasn't stopped raining. (Well, divorce is signed and filed, anyway - Aransas co. court is flooded out).

Sorry.

Rockport Checking In: Wow, +30". What is unreal is the number of homes in Rockport Country Club that got flooded! We live on a high point in the Club (on purpose) but there are several homes in the area I would have thought were safe that got nearly totally wiped out. This rain event eclipsed Harvey by more than twice! The destruction to some of these homes is really unbelievable. No more rain for awhile, Please God!

Same here it's nearly useless, tornado could hit my house by the time it loads. Any meteorologist AGS, can you make a call and have this worked on?

The NWS site was my go to for radar for years until that trash "upgrade". I downloaded myradarpro app on my phone and tablet and it is 1000x better.
