Something like this or their skinny water shrimp in both black and olive/tan should get it done.

Gonna order a 3 pack in the morning. I like the ones with the chartreuse.

Went down to Pacific Coast of MX for a surf trip this winter with the family. Surf was great first few days then faded so my son and I tossed flys at Green Jacks, Jack Crevalle and some reef fish. Never saw a Rooster come through... still on my list. Catching Jack Crevalle on a 7 weight from a surfboard is a blast. The little green jack you see with my son was about all he could handle! Drug him around on that old beat up SUP he was fishing from.

Found that tan and white Red Fish crack flys with some flash did the trick.

That's rad.

Were y'all in Baja somewhere or the mainland? I'm trying to convince the wife that we need to do a trip to La Paz or Los Barriles. Stay in one of the small places there, she can lounge on the beach while the boys and I fish.

Mainland - Punta Mita. Easy trip and I really enjoy the different breaks we have access there for surf.

Is there any good salt water fly fishing on the upper texas coast. Freeport to Port A.

wondering if it's good enough to try and sneak in a trip when i am in houston.

Port A? You mean Port Arthur?? Because most people saying "Port A" are referring to Port Aransas and that's definitely not the Upper Texas Coast.

But yes, there's definitely good saltwater fly fishing here on the upper coast. If I were recovered enough from the knee replacement I'd be happy to show you on my skiff.

Are you looking for a guide?

Agree with TC, he's a solid guide. He or Gabriel Rivas would be the first two I'd check on. Both fish out of Sabine's. Gabriel is a bit tattooed up but may be one of the fishiest guys down there.

Right now I'm free on the 11th but subject to change with work with it being farther out. Might reach out to one of those guys and I can be a backup. Or if you decide the 12th works I can do that.

Forgot about Gabe.

Never fished with him but have met both guys since we all run Sabines.

Got back from a trip to Belize at El Pescador. Caught bones and this guy.

Made me realize i need a sling pack to carry gear on the boat. Any recommendations on a sling pack for fishing in a boat. don't need a huge one as i won't have a ton of gear to bring

I've had a Fishpond Thunderhead submersible for several years now and it's been great. Not too big but plenty of room to carry most of the gear I need.

That being said, I got a previous-year model on closeout so I think I paid $150 for it and not $250.

I have a discontinued sling from Patagonia. The current version looks to be called a guide water sling. I would recommend itdurable, water tight, and compartmented well. I've had a seam weld go out on me before on it and they shipped me a new one really quick.

I carry the Yeti 28L submersible. It's a tad expensive but I use it to double as my carry on and it holds a Turtlebox (Gen 2 size) perfectly
