Heck, I would.love to learn to shoot well enough to just do that basketball drill. May have to set something like that up at mu buddy's place soon and see what happens.

With friends, a great way to add pressure is an unknown par time. Have your friend set a realistic time for you to complete whatever you're doing, but not tell you what the actual par time is.

Great way to add a little time stress to your shooting.

I definitely have some things I want to work on at the range after this event.

Hell yeah, I''m in! Thanks for my new hobby! For my 1st event, I'm thinking I'll use a Colt Match H-Bar (setup as an A2) and a Beretta 92 (as a M9) to replicate my last USMC range 400 run.

That's the other nice thing about Run and Gun compared to most shooting stuff. Rules about equipment are pretty minimal. Saw a picture of a guy rocking a FAL at a recent one, and met a guy at the one I went to who ran the whole match with a 40mm launcher on his AR.

Run whatever you want, its you vs the course, not you vs everyone else.

Trouble with that 650 yd target?

Lob a 40mm bird bomb at it.

All problems can be solved with the proper application of high explosives.

Putin: Should we invade Texas yet?

General: (checks the OB) No, they started running distance races and shooting things while they're running for fun.

Putin: No *****

General: (double checks) Yep, and now they're doing it with night vision gear

Related: Just registered for my next one: a nighttime 5K in Oklahoma.

They have white light and NV options for both 2 gun and PCC.

Planning on running 2 gun night vision with my MCX.

Old Eighteen is a company that runs multiple R&G events here in Texas. They just sent out emails with events and registration dates for 2023 if anyone wants to get in on the fun.

The Venado event in Bandera offers a "sniper" run that looks to be catering to bolt guns and longer shots. The event at The Ranch (great range, by the way) is a nighttime run and gun, offering both NV (no targets illuminated) and white light (rifle targets beyond 100y illuminated, all other targets dark and will need to be hit with WML) runs.

I'm going to see if I can do the Venado event, possibly both days so I can do normal run and gun and try out the event with a bolt gun.

The venado sounds awesome. Would be great practice for mountain hunting.

Damn this looks awesome. Reading the "first time competitors" on their website is pretty encouraging.

I'm 22 days out from my next Run and Gun: a night time event in Pawnee Oklahoma.

It's both friday and saturday night, with friday being night vision and saturday being white light.

I'm running both nights night vision only with a couple other fellow nuts doing the same thing: rifle and pistol night one, and PCC night two.

I thought I bought cans in plenty of time for them to clear pre event. Currently on day 204 waiting for my eforms to clear. Even if they clear at this point, practice time and reliability testing is going to be...minimal.

I'll post helmet set up later (still finalizing a few things) and my rifle set up may be changing entirely if cans aren't going to clear in time, but I have my MP5 clone set up for PCC night. If I can run it with a can great. If not...I'll make it work.

Full size AP5, A2 stock, B&T rail, aimpoint pro, MI handguard, slate black vfg, steiner cqbl on an echo arms 300 series light body mount, surefire vampire 300 head. One of the few benefits of being left eye dominant is since I have to run light/laser on right side of MP5 due to the charging handle, I can reach it all with my off hand and don't need to run pressure pads.

Heres one still going on in West Texas. Won it a couple years way back when I still had cartlilege in my knees.

So I can run and I can gun…but I can't read a calendar.

I have a run slot at the OE run and gun on March 12th in Cherokee, TX. Thats Sunday morning (shorter course, lower round counts).

But I am out of town.

I could ask for a refund, but instead I want to gift it to someone here who has been thinking about trying it out and hasn't yet.

So if you have not done a run and gun event yet, and want a free ticket…claim it. My only ask is that you dont take it unless you can read a calendar better than I can and know you're able to make it to the match.

Thanks!

I'd like to do that Pecos one at least once. I've drilled and operated lots of wells in that area and drove past the club entrance in that process.

Bump. Anyone able to use my ticket? At the deadline for asking for a ticket transfer/redund.

Wish I could take you up on it. Anyone even considering trying one out should jump in this. Spots go fast and not many opportunities in the first place. You don't even have to run it! Just walk it and test your shooting and gear.

We just got finished running the Mystery operations Jade Helm 25 in Leakey. Last year there were 54 teams in this year there were 94. 10 out of 10 event. Would highly recommend! 8 miles and someone said 2000 feet of elevation gain. Nine shooting stations. My partner and I shot it cleanly and finish 18th out of 94. If we would've actually worked on our cardio we could've actually ran more. But I have zero regrets on the shooting. We placed 14th overall in shooting.

Here we are with 2 other buddies and our agreement was we had to wear the shirts our opponent bought for us.

And yes, you are reading right …sitting above us is medal of honor recipient Dakota Meyer who ran this as a solo team.

And a couple places down from us was his friend. Y'all may appreciate the Instagram…

Early in 2023, I suffered a partial Achilles tear.

The scar tissue lumped up funny and would retear randomly, build up more scar tissue, and repeat. So I'd limp around badly for a month or two, start feeling better, then retear it again and limp around again.

I did physical therapy, dry needling, and we were considering PRP injections and surgery. This went on for basically all of 2023 and 2024. Physical and mental health suffered, as you can imagine.

I'm finally slowly putting on some rucking and running mileage again, but taking it very, very slow. Couldn't shoot run and gun or USPSA with a bum leg, so I did a lot of steel challenge the last few years.

Hopefully I'll be back out there in 2026.

It was a great event we took 35th place and walked the whole time haha. My Garmin told it was close to 900 feet of elevation change.

I'll be at this one, probably a couple OED, and hopefully a Mystery Ops match in 2026. I still have a few bruises from the WTF match in Crawford. Run n guns are absolutely one of my favorite things I've gotten into.

WTF looks hardcore. I'd def be interested in doing at some point. Should keep this thread running leading up to events we eventually sign up for just to check in if any other ags are going.

I take it, that it's not possible to do these with a precision .22 LR rifle? Or is it? I'm guessing 500m targets are hard to hit with 22 LR.

You can check the CONOPS for each event. There are some that are rimfire only and targets max at 100 and some that you have to shoot out to 600-800yd so I think its just event dependent.

Anyone else doing the "Battle Ratz" RNG? Their Sunday match is scored on shooting only. Seems like a decent option for someone wanting to get their feet wet.
