I think these are more scraping tools than points. Found them when digging flower beds at my house in 2006. Also found pottery shards at the same time. Atascosa County.

Pretty sure that's a montell…been reworked a few times more than likely. Nice find!

My humble opinion is that you are not looking at an Andice. I believe you have a reworked Castroville.

I'm almost surprised that they had to make so many points. It almost seems like they could gather up some used ones laying around even back then. My guess is there was more vegetation and it was a waste of time to look for a lost projectile vs making a few new ones at camp at night.

They absolutely found them just like we do, but it's also worth noting just the sheer number of people that were around also.

Any idea if these are just rocks or are they tools? I've found a lot of arrowheads but I get confused when I find the tools.

Here's the extent of my backyard archeological project. I built a crude wiggle screen and excavate with a shovel and a pickaxe, backfilling as I go. I started moving south to try and find the extent of the midden with the idea of a predominantly prevailing wind out of the south causing my ancient neighbors to sit on the south side of the fire. Finding less and less debitage and artifacts, I moved back to the north and found the point I posted above. 5 points pulled out of this roughly 8x8 area. The layer is only about 12-18" deep. Any tips are greatly appreciated.

Found two broken points in the backfilled irrigation trench after pool construction in my yard. I thought the first one may be a coincidence, but when I found the second I knew it wasn't. Mowed over this midden for 5 years never thinking twice about it. Once I found the points it stuck out. It was all the broken limestone on the surface of an area that doesn't have much rock. On first inspection I found a broken serrated edge on the surface. I dug and in my first load in the screen I found a legit point.
