When my kids were young, we'd always stop at the Clark general store for ice cream on our way back from boating, hiking, swimming at the beach, etc. at Lake Steamboat. Brings back memories now when we pass by it to/fro some of the hikes - like Hahn's Peak.

Yup, we are right off Elk River across the turn to head to Pearl Lake. Lots of good summertime activities up there!

Well we survived sub-zero at Loveland. It really wasn't bad at all. Couldn't leave gloves off for long, but stayed warm otherwise. Supposed to be colder the next two days so we'll see how they go. The lines are non-existent, probably thanks to the cold. Little icy in spots but nothing too bad.

Winter Park yesterday was awesome! Not too crowded and got over to Mary Jane as well. Today was definitely the coldest temps I've ever skied in, and tomorrow may be colder. Gonna ski until early afternoon then head to Denver, changed to an earlier Monday flight to chase powder down in Houston. :-)

Got to help out my daughter's ski team by helping the kids that can't ride lifts by themselves and picking up fallen gloves, mittens, walkie talkies, jackets (it was warm AF). They're 5-7 year olds. So fun to be able to watch these little rippers. It's insane to watch how good these kids are since they get to grow up on the mountain.

-25 driving up here, to find the parking lot empty and a delayed opening. -7 now and 20 min to open. Kids were bummed.

Update. -7 is one thing but 25+ mph wind is NOT. We may have to try tomorrow.

Bridger Bowl.

Last day at Loveland. The car read -8 when we got out. Place is basically deserted. Great for teaching the 4 year and for me to learn to skip backwards!

Enjoy the frostbite mid-America. We blue bird, spring corn on the best coast.

Day 22 for me. 8 for the girls.

This from 2021. Way better run than the best POW day for this guy.

Been looking at Purgatory just trying to avoid the more mainstream areas...would prefer a shorter NM drive but no big deal.

In any case, last time I went to Purgatory was probably 25 years ago. What are the ski in/out options worth looking at? And I really do mean ski in/out - not walk 300 yards and figure out where to put the kids' shoes.

Worth staying off the slopes and driving? Fine with that too just like the former since the kids are so fickle on how long they want to stay/not stay on the mountain.

Gems pass worth purchasing?

Headed to Vail Sunday night, have my boy in lessons at vail next Monday and then beaver creek the following day. Would love to see some snow up there between now and then but doesn't look promising. Better than last year when it was in the 40s for like 3 or 4 days before I showed up.
Also have a marine buddy in town for the next month or so so might be able to sneak away during the week to Breck or key in the next few weeks to hang out and ski.

Purg:
I got a ski in ski out condo for 4 basically at the one of the main lodges next to the lifts for $1400 for 6 nights

Lift tickets were as cheap as $45 a day for ski any 4 of 5 packages if you bought before thanksgiving or so.

There's actually a lot of true ski in/out at Purg given its size.

The shuttles from nearby condos drop off about maybe 100 yards from the end of the snow at the main base lift, so if you don't mind a shuttle ride, it's really not bad. For the size of the place, the accommodations in the vicinity are actually fairly convenient. It's a pretty good bargain which is why my group keeps going back. There are better mountains, but for a week a year, if can keep you busy.

Which condo/building? I've been looking and pricing some. Doing this for 3k instead of 6 sounds more fun. Especially once I've got another on twigs (9month old).

since all of our skis are in Steamboat, my kids are just going to have to go sledding here in the Houston area today.

The Bayou City has more snow on the ground than Durango, CO!

How has snow been up there this year? Going to Purgatory for Spring Break (saw a few others on here going too) and don't know how much they usually get on the mountain but from their website's stats it seems its been a little slow so far this year.

Great start to the season then not much. Went a week ago and the groomers were pretty good.

Once the high pressure ridge to the west breaks, we should get some good February storms. Spring break is typically a great time to be here!

That makes me feel better. Thanks! Went to Wolf Creek last year and the snow was insane. Got quickly spoiled but the drive to the resort from Pagosa Springs stinks….

We're in what I believe is called the Kendall property. It's not the most high end newest place but it is about as close as you can get to the lift.

I've been watching the forecasts and no snow for about 3 weeks but looks like a good chance for a few inches this weekend.

Same here. You've got to get up about 1,000ft above the valleys to get into the snow.

Couple of Aggies hitting the trails in Park City on the Canyons Side. Serenity is my new favorite run. Very little traffic. Great turns and infinity views.

Nice. Will be up there in a couple of weeks and glad they worked their labor issue out and have snow.
