The biggest UC is that just changing the tax to zero opens the door for dems to add a bunch of digits in front of that number next time they have power. Then it all becomes unobtanium.

Saw this am that GOA/NRA/ASA/NSSF are filing a lawsuit on the order that now that there is no tax stamp the NFA has no substance to have registration.
I am probably wording all that wrong but I watched two podcast on it this am.
It says what they did by taking the tax stamp away may have opened the door for getting the registration removed.
Guess we will see how that all plays out.

That is a path for sure. The issue is how long it will take to get through the courts. As I said earlier, if the dems get power back before the suit is wrapped up, they can just change the tax back to some arbitrary number (which will likely be way higher that $200) and then the suit is moot.

I agree 100%. I really blame Thune and JD Vance for not standing up for this in the senate.

At this point I don't really even know what the point is in voting any more. It's the same ****, different letter behind the name.

Uhm. I know this is the OB and we don't talk politics too much on the OB. And I know that this is frustrating and I also really wanted to be able to go to Academy and buy a suppressor. And hopefully we can get there now.

But brotha, Our ability to govern by compromise is 249 years old and has produced the best country in the history of the world. Compromise is how we got here and the only way forward. I would argue that too many people forgetting that fact is real reason our government sucks right now.

Yeah I'm hopeful we can win through the courts now that that part of the NFA can't be considered a tax. If its not a tax it serves no purpose. Lets push this through the Trump DOJ and get them to let it get thrown out by the courts.

GOA and FPC are the true sentinels of the 2nd amendment, they are everything the NRA claims to be. A fraction of the size yet triple effective. Defense of freedom must be relentless and uncompromising, something those folks do very well.

its the typical genius of our government. They removed the tax (income), but kept the registration (cost). No wonder we are trillions in debt with no sign getting out.

I would like to say that this was just a chess move to get it to pass, and then let the courts kill the NFA, but they don't care that much. It was just an attempt to play the middle.

Everyone talks about 'chess moves' I don't think anyone in our government has the ability to walk and chew gum at the same time much less worry about thinking ahead. You are right. It's a basic negotiation.....ask for everything so you can settle for 'good enough for now'. If there is no money attached to it, then how can it be required to be registered? It just seems stupid. Isnt the NFA nearly a century old?
