From what I've been told, Cypress Lake was relatively unaffected by floodwaters. It is where they evacuated the kids from the flats to once the flood waters receded. The only place where it got bad was on the flats. Senior hill was also relatively unaffected by floodwaters as well but they were somewhat trapped up there for some time by the surrounding waters.

My daughter was at Cyoress Lakes (Nightengales Nook). From what she has told me, all there cabins were okay. The water damage in her cabin was from rain, not flooding.

The girls from Guadalupe were brought to Cyoress at some point. They have a generator at the mess hall so they could feed the girls. The Cypress Lakes girls each gave a set of clothes so the Guad girls could have something dry and clean to wear.

The Guad girls (and any girls with injuries) were helicoptered out, and Cypress girls were driven out by Game Wardens. The golf holes at Guad and soccer field at Cypress where used for helicopter landings.

Girls were driven to a church (not sure which one) were they went through triage, then out on a bus and driven to Ingram High where they were checked in, and then to another school to get checked out and leave or stay the night.

Continued prayers to you and your family Derm. Continued prayers to others on here directly impacted. Summer camp life is special for kids growing up in Texas. Whether it's Mystic, La Junta, Pine Cove, Longhorn, Kickapoo, or or the many others camps in Texas, these kids were doing what they loved. It was our girls favorite time of the year and they spent all year planning for it. It's also where they learned to love The Lord. Seeing those Mystic cabins with the girls' trunks that they decorated and pics of their family hung on the wall brings back all those memories. We pray the families impacted find some peace that the girls were in their favorite place learning about the Lord.

The family of a little girl named Mary Kathryn Jacobe (Mary Kate) has confirmed their little girl is another victim of the floods from Mystic.

Tweety Eastland, needs prayers. After losing her beloved husband Dick trying to save his campers…she will be fighting battles with grief and remorse of feeling the loss of all of those young ladies.

Her father George Albritton attended A&M in the 1940's with his brothers Ford and Frank, which connects her to your Aggie family even more deeply than you know ( not that that matters).

She and Dick had many hardships including the unexpected loss of their son to a heart attack too young. The hardships she had seen, few could persevere through, but she has grit and God and a great group of children, siblings, and extended family.

I hope you will keep her in your prayers…

Dick Eastland did every single possible thing to help every single one of those girls, including giving his own life.

As I said before, figure out where they are from. Use an accent and curse their god/s. It is the only way to make them stop

We saw things similar on Texags when MFBarnes started the GoFundMe for someone he didn't know without their knowledge.

We have shut down 20+ fraudulent GoFundMes using my cousin's name. There are probably countless more that made it through that we never found.

I haven't looked, but there are probably public Facebook pages created for all of the children and their families by people in Pakistan (don't know why Pakistan but that's where all of the ones who used my cousin's name came from). They're impossible to get shut down and wouldn't even name a price for me to buy their page and shut it down.

Social media has commoditized attention, and commodity "markets" move way faster than we think. I live in Australia and flood updates were basically all that was on TV all weekend even out here. Any story that has gone global like this will lead to the dark side of the internet coming out in force.

If you click the About link on any public Facebook page it will show you the history of the page. What many of them do is have generic page names just to build some history and then they change the names when they've identified their next target.

As soup said, this is different from the hopefully well-meaning but likely not well-organized SAHMs.

Tweety and all the Eastlands are the best Longhorns you will ever meet. They will have to have Dicks memorial service at DKR and still there wouldn't be enough seats for all who would want to attend. My heart is broken and I'm still in shock. I have very close ties to Camp Mystic. It's truly the happiest place on earth when camp is in session. I love you Tweety, Richard, Britt, and Edward. James and Dick are together with all of the brave girls who fought like hell to stay here but God will take care of them now. Love conquers all, so everyone keep on hugging your people, call your loved ones and tell them you love them. Life is a beautiful gift and we need more empathy, compassion, and patience more than ever these days. I'm praying for all my Mystic people. You're light will live on through me forever.
