God bless you and keep you. I dont think its an understatement to say that the world mourns with you. I pray it's a small comfort to see the number of people saying they are praying for the first time in years or spending more time in prayer than they ever have. The camp mystic family inspired that. not just because of the tragedy, but because of their faith and their spirit..and yours too. That's the Holy Spirit at work through your family.

I wish I had more to offer besides my love and respect. But I pray the Lord wraps you in the comfort that only He can give.

Look, having worked in media for more than 15 years, I can tell you that you have no idea what you're talking about. Most of those reporters have a real compassion for people involved in disasters like this. There's also a nationwide interest in this story.

As noted above, there are lots of fake stories and bad information going around, and legitimate news outlets are trying to provide accurate reporting by speaking to the people who are actually involved.

The Fox 4 rainfall graphic going around showing the 3 trillion gallons I don't believe is correct. I think they did some funny math to be more sensational.

3 trillion gallons is equivalent to 9.2 million acre ft. Canyon lake at conservation pool is only about 350k acre ft of water storage and then flood pool is about 1m acre ft. Even using a really low runoff coefficient like 0.3 the reported 3 trillion gallons would be enough to fill the lake from empty to the top of the spillway 3 times and there's only been an 11ft rise total.

The real amount of rainfall over just the Guadalupe was probably more on the range of 5ish billion gallons.

Grant everyone impacted by this and their families strength and comfort as their lives have been turned upside down. Two things, then I'm done. First, I agree, no one should be badgered. At the same time, sometimes what seems like badgering is more a matter of many people following the same limited leads.

Second, while you or your family might value privacy at a time like this, there are other people who want to get their stories out. They may want the world to know about their loved one. Or they may be asking if anyone has seen this person. There are many reasons why people choose to talk.

As for the journalist themselves, many of them have been to many different tragedies. They have already been cussed out and threatened before. They have already seen bodies before. And, it gives them a little bit of perspective, and they generally try to be sympathetic with the people they talk to.

Given that we are 72+ hours out, i ASSUME that means it has gone from rescue to recovery. I can't imagine the camp has not been in constant communication with the families given what we've heard about on here.

for the record, the chief was very adamant that recovery does not mean they stop looking for survivors, it just means they start also trying to make roads passable.

The sad reality as we all know is that after floods of this scale there is a point where presumed deceased becomes the working assumption. The sadder reality is that after floods like this, it is often the case not all bodies are even recovered and again you have missing presumed deceased perpetually. There is some math at play behind the scenes that goes into it with tons of variables.

Not saying that is the case here per se until confirmed officially but it does happen.

Awful tragedy. I was able to speak to my buddy briefly and offer words but that's all I can do at this point.

Continued prayers for these lost souls and their families. My family has been praying all weekend and following this thread. I have an 11 year old son and I simply couldn't imagine going through this as a parent. Lord please comfort these hurting hearts.

Definitely a subdued Monday. Things I thought important....just don't seem as important today. Heart hurts for those suffering. I've been following this thread since the first page but didn't want to post and clutter in that critical first day since I had no stake in this but woke up today just feeling awful for my extended Aggie family here and everyone else in the path of this disaster.

Love you all and been praying nonstop for everyone.
