I saw a photo of a whitetail near Carrizo Springs a few weeks ago. It had a pretty substantial hole in its side that looked like the images I could compare to deer with screwworm online.

Last I heard about a week ago, TPWD was still trying to locate it and confirm.

L&E sells deer protein with Ivermectin. The guv guys told us that the monthly tick injection program of Dectomax will prevent larvae from surviving. That's what I'm doing with cattle.

L&E does not have a deer feed with ivermectin in it nor does Purina. The FDA did not approve the emergency request for a dry ivermectin premix to be produced and allowed to be fed to deer.

Interesting. I feed Double Down but we have put ivermectin feed out before from L&E. Like for several years. Wonder why no more?
In the fever tick quarantine zone along the border the state puts out Ivermectin corn much of the year but stops 30-45 days before season starts and resumes after deer season.

Not to get political, but IMO we're damn lucky Trump is in office.

If/when that group is determined to make something happen (like someone in business would), stuff starts flying everywhere which we all know is NOT how the Fed gov't typically does anything. Having Brooke Rollins in office should make a huge difference as well.

Hopefully we'll see a quick response with adjusting the regulations, building the facility, etc.
I don't think you know me.

Agree 100%. Brooke has been nails so far.

Purina sold a dewormer feed at one point in time. I don't think it was Ivermectin though… we fed it probably 5-6 years ago

We have fed L&E dewormer feed in the past but it contains fenbendazole and not ivermectin.

Anyone know what this is? Landed in my gun this weekend in Webb county. Was curious if it is one of the sterile males they released?

This is a flesh fly, Genus Sarco****a. The screwworm fly is a blow fly, different family and genus than the one pictured. Most blow flies are metallic in color, I believe including the screwworm fly.

in addition to the current high prices, maybe dig deeper on any older cows and ship them.

This Thursday at 5:00 at the Lincoln Community Center off of Hwy 21, there is a public meeting.

Texas Agrilife Response Preparation is putting it on and it mentions that a "Texas A&M fly specialist" will be present along with Federal, State and Local officials attending.

This was posted on the Carmine Feed facebook page on Saturday.

I wonder where else they are having this meeting.

seems like they should be 5 days a week in different towns

Cochliomyia hominivorax, the New World screw worm fly, or screw-worm for short, is a species of parasitic fly that is well known for the way in which its larvae (maggots) eat the living tissue.

The adult flies are rarely seen except when they are laying eggs on wounds.

With the withdrawal timeline and inability to treat dairy cattle that doesn't seem to be a viable solution other than to ensure you don't lose animals.

So what are we looking at in terms of timing for the northern half of TX? Cooler temps and mitigation efforts presumably slow its progress until next spring or summer?

Well this one found south of Monterey, the previous was found in Sabina's Hidalgo, which is about half way between Monterey and Nuevo Laredo. It's also about 70 miles west of Zapata.
This had been mandatory vaccinated with Ivermectin 72 hours prior to shipment and the larvae were either dead or dying. So, it looks like Mx is doing a little something. Still, I expect them to arrive by end of year, and already on a Dectomax vaccine regimen , but my cattle in Zapata . We close
