The little bit I've looked into it, TPWD basically doesn't want to do any relocates. Deer have to be tested for CWD, etc.

I have enough painful things to deal with in my life as it is and zero desire to go seeking out something that would be an absolutely miserable thing to endure.

Yes sir. Absolutely know where you are coming from. Lots of people got all upset about moving the deer. They would try to sabotage the captures…all kinds of craziness.
We did it quite a few years back before the CWD became a threat. It would make sense TPWD would not want to be held liable.

Buck fight in my neighbors backyard here in Magnolia

This had me looking up legal methods to killing a deer in that situation. My first thought is to put up a big privacy fence in your back yard, a feeder, and a remote close gate. Then just go out and spear them. but apparently you can't hunt deer with spears in Texas.

Now invasive species.. that's legal... so maybe just have to trap an axis in the back yard, put on some face paint and go gladiator style...

I have thought about getting proficient with a crossbow. We see Axis roaming from time to time that cross through our backyard. My house is only on 2 acres but it backs up to 1,000 + acres of water conservation land. I think the Axis hers are leftover herds from Ruby Ranch and the large ranch that was broken up when they put the 45 toll road through South Austin to 35.

maybe put a fishing leader and reel on the crossbow bolt to help aid in recovery so they don't run too far.

I couldn't give two craps about an axis buck but I'd be finding a way to put some of those does in the freezer.
