Savage 110 tactical chambered in 6.5 cm with a nomad L. Its a heavy sum b...
I did sight in a TC Compass 2 chambered in 308 and omega 300 as my evening hunt gun but I have yet to take it out.

So far this season the 6.5 has made quick work of 2 pigs. My 4.5 year old has been in the stand for both.

Waiting on my 300wsm to come back from getting the barrel threaded and then it will return to action.

As with any rifle at any caliber you have to play with ammo to see what it shoots the best for your situation. Zeroed at 200 yards you would be 1 in high at 100. You don't need a heavy bullet to wack deer and pigs at that distance. But those creeds are accurate after you figure out stabilization of different weights.

I get what your saying..

But reading some ammo reviews, some folks said some of the ammo is "better" at a farther distance. It held together better. Some said the bullet didn't penetrate well at closer distances because it didn't hold together, it disintegrated.

Not my experience. That's why I'm asking other 6.5C users.

I'm not much of a paper puncher. Most creed lovers are. I know some that have had zero issues at all. I think they have great shot placement. If you miss a little it costs you in time spent looking for a bleed out of a really small hole. Just one guy's opinion so take it for what it's worth.

I ordered a new 6.5 Creedmoor for the same reason yall buy them.. just wanted something new. I started doing some research after purchase for the right ammo and saw some mixed reviews and that its great at long range but some of the bullets do weird things on closer shots.

Most of my shots are whitetail at <200 yards.

Can someone help with some real life ammo suggestions ?

I've used strictly 140gr remington core lokts for hunting. When I got the gun ammo was hard to find and never switched.

So far 4 hogs dropped on the spot ranging from 25 yards to 125. 1 deer that ran 15 yards and dropped. He was about 40 yards away.

Other than the remingtons I've shot Hornady black and it's been a tack driver.

I've killed 4 or 5 mule deer and an antelope from 40-470 yds with Hornady match ammo, 147 gr. Nothing made it more than 30 or 40 yds.

I used my 300 win mag, lefty bergara b14 hmr with can, for my Dublin Texas red stag, my kids used my custom 6.5 grendel on their fallow and whitetail does. No tracking required! Also used my 10mm Dan Wesson on some hogs at high speed in the UTV. Great weekend a few weeks back!

Then there's this guy: http://www.buckstix.com/howitzer.htm

Personally, I think that's better for hogs.

Absolute tack drivers.

Note: the 130 grain .264 listed above are the only match hybrid Berger recommends for hunting.

For hunting i've used the rem 140g core lokt and the Hornady 129g american whitetail with no issues the past 5 seasons. I use other Hornady stuff when i attack long range paper.

I've been using the wife's Howa Mini action in 6.5 Grendel because it's compact and a nice easy shooter. But I did some load development on my old Howa 30-06 and would like to see how the Berger 168 vid's perform. So probably carry it at least once this season before going back to the Grendel.
